The half-assed moderation

I quit playing a long time ago. But I still lurk around the forums to see if there is an ounce of hope left for this game, as I loved it. But right now the forums are a wreck of immature people including mods. If Jorb and Loftar have any sense about them they will at least try to wright this ship and get it going in a new and better direction. So my vote was for the crappy mods and the Chief.
The reason for my votes. The mods are never rock solid. One minute they are joking around in a thread with everyone and then the next closing it down due to it not being a thread they would allow. And if you are not playing the game you have no right to be modding. These forums are a lot of political junk that happens inside the game and rolls over into the forums. I do not care how long you "played" the game if you are not in it now get out and let someone who plays take over.
I am a moderator on an international magazine forum, and if any of us acted like the mods do here we would be gone.

The second vote. The chief. Why? Because his immature antics on the forum and in game are killing it for new players coming in. Myself I could care less about his silliness, but for a new player who does not know the ropes he is nothing more than a player who goes out and hunts down newbs just to kill them and have something to post about. I would love to see how many people he actually drove away from this game. It just blows my mind how Jorb and Loftar let this go on. Why would you let one player ruin the game for so many.
And if I would of had a third vote it would be content. They have definitely dropped the ball. Heck if they do not want to work on the game then sell the rights to some devs who will actually do something with this. The game has so much potential and could really be big. But I just do not see it happening under it's current team. They can say they do not want the game to be big, all that is them telling us they are afraid to succeed.

I could understand if this so called "half-assed moderation" kept you from playing teh forums, but to say that it keeps you from playing the game is just ridiculous. I agree with you mostly. I'd say that the forums as source of a information is cheapened a bit by everyone Chief, mods, me who use it now, but that there's almost no reason for new players to not play based on the mod. That being said, I think top players like YGM and other quitting over the forum is legitimate.

I'm curious how you voted Mushi. Which one did you vote for if not the mod complaints choice?

the forums and back and forth trashtalk is half the game for any game that is pvp heavy and actually worth a ****, i can easily see how moderation issues on the forums would prevent people from playing the game as a large part of this game ARE the forums.

furthermore i take "half assed moderation" to actually mean "****** mods", of which we have a few that....

1> do not play the game, hardly played when they did, and never graduated beyond week old newbie status when they did play.

2> because of #1 and their total lack of game knowledge constantly blather on about their grand ideas for game "improvements" that would do nothing but ***** the game up even more and drive off more players.

3> endlessly **** talk this game in favor of haven or others entirely.

4> are extremely bias about certain in game politics and use their moderator status to squelch those they dont like.


so, a new player comes to the forums. most forums the moderators are respected long time old salts of the game they moderate for (as opposed to this one where the majority of the players i know consider the most vocal of the moderators to be complete *****). he instantly sees nothing but negativity and ***** from some of the mods. he decides if the games representatives are speaking ill of it he wont waste his time.
