New players now have more of a reason to trade their 7 use inspirationals for decent thermal clothing. Also, keep in mind that it's been stated many a time that we mainly want to keep around thick-skinned players that , like you, welcome the challenge. If they are too whimpy then they will quit the first time they get KO'd, or stolen from, or raided, or murdered. If the cold is too much of a hassle then they wouldn't last either way, consider it a sort of tutorial so they can go "Oh .. so this is one of those ******* games that tests my patience, WELL BRING IT ON!"

Haha that is true and I like that about this game. But keep in mind these are "New Players" there is so much in this game and its very unlikely that you will know the value of every item, such as 7 use inspirationals. I guess i was only concerned about the new type of difficulty it brought. For a new person, diseases can be avoided by quickly moving around spawn avoiding sick people, while hypothermia is just.. everywhere during cold snap. Not being able to move around is the true pain for a new player and the difficulty is rises is more of a "This task takes longer" than a "This task takes the following steps" type of difficulty.

So suggest tooltips not removal, hints at how to deal with it. Your character getting a voice clip that goes "brrr it's chilly, i should've dressed up better" would be fine.

I also suggest you try reading. My post asked if the new update hurts new players, not "Why don't we remove it." am I surrounded by 30 yr olds that hear what they want to...

It helps to steer your own post /thread into a particular direction though. Consider this is the worst coldsnap can ever get, so newbies won't necessarily freeze this hard normally. If you wanted a particular outcome out of this thread you should've asked "What could we do to not make this entirely horrible for newbies" rather than leave it open-ended. It does indeed seem harsh to freeze as a newbie on day 2, so perhaps they could buff the starter clothes a bit.

I didn't hear about the coldsnap being as harsh as it can until later. I'm just suggesting you realize what a person is asking you. and buffing the starter clothes doesn't seem that good because then there it will be either "bearable" or "good enough to last for a long time." There is always the idea of a warm buff that can last a day or two like "Warm Feeling" allowing you to be excited and distract to the point where the coldness isn't the first thing on your mind. then after that time its back to normal and they can suffer a tolerable amount.

That'd be a nice and easy fix I guess, just like madness does not increase passively for the first (iirc) 48h played(!)

Next best thing is adding a "craft some nice clothing so you dont spend your first week in Salem as an ice block"-thingy to the tutorial, with maybe some makeshift earmuffs and a basic cape.
Plus maybe a thing like the wool blanket just either a much weaker version, or one that has a wear and is destroyed after so and so much uses.
Need something? Here is my Shop (Including some useful info for new/returning players at the bottom of the first post)

"Young and vigorous" - "The flaming blood of youth pumps through your veins, excitement at all the wonders around you keep you from noticing the harsh elements in this new land. Give it a day or two and you'll freeze your face off, so get some clothes and a house noob."

Could be the buff tooltip xD But yeah it'll be either that or a flask of english broth with limited charges like the tenderfoot refresher.

This has all been excellent feedback. I will indeed monitor it. Please keep in mind though that due to Heffernan annoying me with his Cape farming I did drop the cold snap to the lowest possible temperature that can be had. So the good news is that Hypothermia should never be more unmanageable than it is right now :).
