Also, keep in mind that it's been stated many a time that we mainly want to keep around thick-skinned players that , like you, welcome the challenge. If they are too whimpy then they will quit the first time they get KO'd, or stolen from, or raided, or murdered. If the cold is too much of a hassle then they wouldn't last either way, consider it a sort of tutorial so they can go "Oh .. so this is one of those ******* games that tests my patience, WELL BRING IT ON!"

If you wanted a particular outcome out of this thread you should've asked "What could we do to not make this entirely horrible for newbies" rather than leave it open-ended. It does indeed seem harsh to freeze as a newbie on day 2, so perhaps they could buff the starter clothes a bit.

I didn't hear about the coldsnap being as harsh as it can until later. I'm just suggesting you realize what a person is asking you. and buffing the starter clothes doesn't seem that good because then there it will be either "bearable" or "good enough to last for a long time." There is always the idea of a warm buff that can last a day or two like "Warm Feeling" allowing you to be excited and distract to the point where the coldness isn't the first thing on your mind. then after that time its back to normal and they can suffer a tolerable amount.

Could be the buff tooltip xD But yeah it'll be either that or a flask of english broth with limited charges like the tenderfoot refresher.
