Absolutely this! I'm just happy I never found HnH/Salem when I was studying (well, not until my final year when I was already down to just my thesis :) )

On-topic: originally I figured it was a joke, that cash shop. But in the end, 7 hours a week is enough for a semi-casual player - especially if you take into account that that is per alt. That said, I do vastly prefer the salem cash store (even though I should buy there more often :) )
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I remember doing 600h worth of warcraft in its early days within 3 months why holding down a 40h per week job.

It worked out that i spent 1/3rd of every day ingame, and remember you need to take into account i traveled 1h each way to work, and sleep etc.

The Joys of being Young once.

EDIT: On a side note, some youth died in the UK recently after doing a 3 week gaming binge after breaking his leg, sleeping only 2h per day for 3 weeks on end, apparently on one of his characters deaths ingame, he died irl as well.

In the news artical it made a point he racked up 1500h worth of gaming in 18 months, i laughted and said thats childs play, not even close to hard-core.

Apparently some people are leaving HnH and joining Salem atm,
which is confusing as most would say it's the other way around. Today's a good day for MM. ;)

They were good at building the hype but really had to destroy it by smacking a 15$ tax on our face for a game still having its rough edges unpolished and is of course a notably alpha (i don't pay for alpha's unless they're seriously sick, which means they should be at beta or out of it at this rate) which is a ridiculous amount if exchanged into several known currencies. If they really needed money they would have been better off allowing us to do one time purchases for it or just start some donation campaign. Even if it may not work just as good you'd still keep the respect of the community because oh boy there are maanny raging about it. Mainly people who never posted on the forums before, but you get the deal.

There's a small chance I'd purchase it then and now once it gets some proper optimizations, more camera options and being able to control with WASD, but I don't like the stress knowing there's a timer fed by cash ticking by. It just makes the overall gameplay unsettling and not just as fun anymore.

Other than that I think we'll see a slight if not more decrease of the playerbase of HnH soon. While I understand their need for money there are better ways to get it. I feel bad for it having to turn out like this. :?

Indeed. H&H has made itself quite active in development terms for the time being at least.

why are people giving lothar and jorb so many chances? has they not proved so many times that they are brilliant at getting ideas but terrible at completing them,
if they were tasked to make an house. Then it would have some neat and unique furniture, but the walls and the roof would be missing.

i played HnH too it was good game in the first few worlds then it got worse with each world and now its very bad i would rather buy cash shop items in a game like salem than pay for a buggy, laggy, poorly done clone of salem with much less content than salem. its good that they work on the game now but i think they were too fast on slapping a price tag on the game when it isnt even polished enough. they could easily have made the 2000 players pay the money for the sub if they had taken it in steps.
for example make the game free with only cosmetics at first and let the 2000 players settle in.
then put up a sub fee after the game is more polished of 5 dollars per month and everyone would have said it's just 5 dollars.
then increase the fee to 15 dollars when the game is working as intended.

or they could have just made the game free and give you the ability to buy a revival of your character for 15 dollars.
you would still permadie but you could avoid permadying by paying whenever you die. people with a high level character would gladly pay for the revive any day.
