not to use it as an excuse as frankly at this point it shouldnt used. but salem is still beta testing its mechanics so the balances we have currently are not fine tuned or set. they are still having to balance out both sides of the coin. from the hardcore raider/pvp to the hardcore carebear both sides have to be balanced to some extent other wise no one will want to play the game to an extent that the population grows. so narfing stuff right now i wouldnt consider really game breaking as honestly the narfs are still only bandaids in the line of balance tuning. if this was offically a gold release and the game was 1yr old (for release) then ya i would be more miffed about balancing issues as those should be done before any official launch, but for now its acceptable.


as for CS lol i was a mac 10/duel pistol kinda guy or glock/MP or was until every server kept vote kick/banning me for stupid BS reasons (noobs never learning to burst fire will always scream aimbot/hack.. it never changes even for newer games)

He was uncle darwoth in his youthful days, back when his guild members and him fought hand to hand combat in deserts that would burn cacti and drop to sub-zero temperatures in a matter of seconds, and they would have to wait for it to reheat, just so they could tear apart the cacti's needly shell with their bare hands and suck up the fluid inside.

An interesting game has to have many valid choices in it. The problem with imbalances is that if one choice is clearly superior to all others, then there is no variety in the game, and no way to accommodate a variety of tastes.

How interesting would chess be if it was proven that there was a 19-long series of moves which would always guarantee victory?

If this game will be running for those hundred... maybe two hundreds of players enjoying constant fear, running 5 alts 24/7 to be able defend their claim / life against raider(s) then leave game mechanics as it is. :roll:

Without any chances for casual players, which are able to sacrifice hour, maybe two after school/job this game will fade away pretty fast. Not due to lack of players, there will be always bunch of those hardcores which will be taking pleasure killing everyone around (no matter if it's new player or not) but I pretty doubt that those will pay enough to keep this game running.

True, life is not balanced. This is not life. This is a game, for fun.
In real life people reach their goals against all adversities. In the game, if adversities are too big, if imbalance makes it not fun for some people, then they will simply stop playing and find some other game. If not enough people want to play the game it effectively dies.
Besides, in real life you can't really choose - you live with what you have or you die.

Can we stop those real life comparisons?

In Diablo 2, Sorceresses would use Telekinesis & Teleport to take other players items (or take the special drops from monsters before others).
Typically this was stupid players who were baited into proving their leet item was real & not a fake by dropping it on the ground at some distance - such as over the other side of a river.
Then these two skils were nerfed to hell - if I had my way they would have been left alone.
The result would have been Sorceresses wouldn't have been trusted & ostracised, this is good roleplay - except for the few who were able to work up an "Honest Reputation".
