Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that one would need just 80,000s to win this competition by buying their own books.

(25s/book * 1000 books) + (100s/book * 1000 books * 0.55 tax) = 80000s

The person that spent 150k silver and lost like 35% (52.5k silver) of it.

And that was back when silver was much harder to come by. If someone wanted to win the competition I doubt the loss of said money would be a issue seeing as how 80,000 isn't unheard of now
