It does not matter if JC was on monday the last time online on forum, because he has a monitoring notification system if the server crashes.
But, if he sleeps or he is not available, it could be take much more time than before.

it's already been said by JC repeatedly that he gets instant-messaged in various ways whenever the server goes down. Evidence of the speed with which it comes up again, most of the time :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Investigating...

EDIT:

Quite unfortunate. There were some technical difficulties during the boot down.... as such, and to avoid either a corruption of the character in question OR a 3-6 hour rollback we will instead be leaving the server down for an estimated 5-10 hours. As always, if the rollback lasts longer than 8 hours I"ll be delivering gifts. Sorry! I will leave Popham live during this time as well so players have at least that to dabble in.

I guess that explains why there was suddenly a blood moon in Popham

No , I don't think you can .
Login server seems to be linked to providence : Providence "terminate" state = no connection ; but Providence "crashed" state = you can connect and play to Popham. I don't know what's the difference.
That would mean only those already connected to Popham can continue to play on it at the moment.

Any chance you could add your timezone to your posting and/or is there a way to figure out what it is?

John's post about being down 5-10hours... 9:30am... where? what UTC?

Just have to use the server posted time... sorry for the wasted response...

the time stamp on his post should be in your local time if you have configured that right in your user profile.
Which is, I surmise, also the reason that JC posts "in 5-10 hours", rather than "at 4 am in the night", which would be even more confusing.

Anyways: halfway to the gifts!
Since I'm travelling today this is impeccable timing :)
