Looking for other people in my timezone to play with :)

Hello. I am a new player looking for other people to play with. None of my friends are interested in this game and I don't really enjoy playing MMOs alone if I don't have to.

Just a q... Is it normal for newbs to play alone, or do they join in groups? And how do you know if someone is a troll or a friendly player? Is there a list of known trolls/ninjas/thieves?

Contact Darwoth he is the friendliest player in game, and usually lets you into his village until you are ready to head out on your own.

Some new players play alone and others join town or collectives. There isn't really a list of good/bad people because while there are some people you should clearly stay away from most politics are more complicated than that. You will mostly have to find out who you think you can trust by reading the forum and talking to people.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I might be able to nag one of my friends into playing, but I doubt it lol. I've read all the newbie guides I can find on the forums. Unfortunately when I google "salem" I get linked to another game or the actual witch trial pages. even when I try to youtube a guide I get this other game. I'm going through the wiki now. So I guess I shouldn't trust anyone that invites me, or is that being paranoid?

No one is going to really bother you as long as you mind your own business inside providence.
Even outside prov most people don't grief newer looking players unless they're extremely bored or are just some ass.
I would recommend to not settle in one spot for to long and to just travel from spot to spot until you find somewhere relatively far from prov about 3-4 hours away and make sure it's not near any other bases as most do not take kindly to random leantos near them.

I hate to say it, but right now it depends on your clothes. If you are wearing cash shop stuff, don't trust any town invites without some follow up, but in general you don't need to be too paranoid in this game. It can be really cool to join a town and if you can find a good town it will make some of the begining of the game go smoother for you. Hermiting can be a lot of fun too.

The wiki can be a lot of help, but remember we have a help section too, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you want to play with others try to find a town to join, just make sure you research the person running it, but at this point you don't have much to lose so if it goes bad its not a big deal. If you want to be social start making connections as soon as possible some will screw you over but you will learn how to protect your self and who to avoid and those are lessons you want to learn sooner rather than later.
Also one thing you should know about getting help on the forums is that you should never trust anything about game mechanics that is in CuaH, HoB, or Announcements(out side of the first post of each patch), it is all trolling and lies even many of the dev posts and posts from otherwise trustworthy players. If you see something that you think may be true but are not sure post about it in help where trolling is not allowed.
