Don't expect many people to buy at first unless you do item first, try and trade with mainly trusted traders doing, silver first, and your rep will slowly build from there once you have enough you can charge 5 billion dollars, and not be questioned if you will put in your end of the deal.

Also don't overcharge things try to sell at a fair price so people will actually want to pick your thread shop over someone else's.

additional tip: have a public HS for your trader (make sure his homestead is not set on a claimstone) which will make it easy for people to contact you and hard for people to impersonate you.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I actually had a question about that. Should it be an alt, or my main account that I use, I was planning on an alt doing it, but seeing a brand new alt running around while trying to barter, may seem suspicious... At the same time however, I don't wish to set up my main character with a perma-HS to give away my location, and as a bonus, thank you for leaving a tip, I really appreciate that! ^^

Both options have their avantages :
- main character is "online" more often than alt : so it's easier to speak with you and make a deal
- dedicated alt is safer : if you lose it , just make another one ¦]

But as Kandarim said the important part is : if you give your HS , you need to have a Leanto on this character and not a claimstone.

For me I'm using a dedicated-alt , with a leanto inside one of my main town; and I'm mostly running two salem-client at a time.

Concerning silver-first Rubberduck is mostly right , but that will depend on your sale : for very small items it will be easier to get it first. I don't care giving silver first for 100 golden flakes , I care if it's 10 gold bar ¦]

if someone steals from you memorize them and make sure not to trade with them again, this give item first thing on your thread may set you up to get scammed. Then again I have no clue in game who you are so maybe not.

EDIT: not insinuating I would scam, stating that a scammer would see this thread and know that he would get item first...

I thought as much myself actually, which is why I'll start off with little by little, and work my way up. In addition, I'll not just memorize the player, but also do some in game confirmation chat, followed with screenshots. To which I will post upon this forum subject, should the trade go badly. Thank you for this information, I highly appreciate it.
