All vets got cheap t2 witch, now t2 witches price increased several times. All vets have towns with 10k braziers, now iron output from smelters down three times. They have 1kk+ silver personal claim, now most convenient way to get silver nerfed. Prices of some types of clothing have increased almost twice. So what happens? Why new players need to invest more time to achieve the same results? Why such serious changes are taking place at server without wipes?
The game has gotten much, much, easier than it used to be. Should we give all the vets special items as compensation for all the work they put in doing things that you can do in 1/10th the time today? When onions first came out, they were 10k silver each. It actually required a team of several investors pooling their money to buy a single onion (though I think that actually fell through and they didn't get one after all). Onions were finally introduced when Bedro, the game's wealthiest player at the time, bought one. There's a picture out there of him with a shed full of onions, laughing. Today, many players can buy a 10k something fairly easily. Smelters used to produce about .8 bars per smelting at BEST, now you get 1-2. Darkness monsters used to be very difficult to kill, but it's become easier for people with the continuing increase of things like good fighting sets. It used to be necessary to layer a base in 12 or more stone walls to equal the defensive power that one brick wall provides today. Slotting clothing used to be an absolute bear with chances of getting a WSS slotted being around 50%, and the WSS was the best slotting item with all the others being far behind in usefulness. There was only the lace for adding slots, there was no way to get something out once slotted, and four slot clothing and armor were almost impossible to acquire. A gluttony session used to consist of whatever you can hold in a 16 slot inventory plus backpack (regular, not fine leather, and no pockets). There were no seven use inspirationals. Indeed, there were far fewer inspirationals to choose from overall, making getting enough inspiration to increase skill points beyond a certain point all but impossible.
Certain aspects of the game will get more difficult sometimes, and some will get easier. Overall, Salem is MUCH easier, and MUCH more forgiving, and MUCH safer than it was two years ago, so there's no reason to complain that the vets ever have had it easier than you have. And I'm quite certain you've been playing long enough to have taken full advantage of higher smelter yields and 'cheaper' witches, if you had wanted to. Stop trying to blame game mechanics for your own inadequacies. There's also no one saying things won't change in the other direction again.
