No, meow is trolling.
Post it to planters & pilgrims, that's the right place for it.

If you want to be free of trolling, the "Help!" and "Bugs and Technicalities" fora are the only subfora where trolling is not allowed.

They consider themselves too important to help beginners.

There are only three completely useless proficiency, which does not make sense to increase above than skills required: Art & Crafts (you need 97), Cloak & Dagger(45 for Fencing) and Hunting & Hideworking (142 for Viscera & Bits).

The rest proficiencies have some benefit, but in most cases, this benefit can be obtained increasing invested effort:
Hammer & Nail increase the number of boards produced from logs. Herbs & Sprouts increase the number of plants produced from pots. Mines & Mountains increase the amount of lime while dig, gives a greater chance for granite and gemcutting. Law & Lore gives silver bonus when refilling claims and town bells. Sparks & Embers increase the number of charcoal you get from coal clamp. Stocks & Cultivars gives a bonus to plenty when plant fields. Sugar & Spice slight decrease full&fed debuff when you eat. Natural Philosophy gives a small bonus when using potions. Perennial Philosophy provide bonus to witchcraft. Faith and wisdom are rumored increase the resistance to witchcraft.

For example, you can raise a Hammer & Nail to 200 and receive an average bonus of 30 boards from logs, but it is also possible not to raise the proficiency and just cut down two trees. Instead rising Herbs & Sprouts you can just make more pots and buy gardener's shovel. Etc.
The only proficiency that is needed is a Thread & Needle, because good clothes necessary for everyone and it will be very expensive make it without 700-800. But fortunately, there are several tailors who can make everything you need for free or for small fee.

Either that, or they do not feel like wasting time on writing guides that anyone with ~10 minutes of time can find out themselves ? The wiki lists mostly all of the relevant info on most proficiencies

A lot of the advice you gave was plain wrong:
You need MUCH higher levels in the proficiencies you mentioned to get even the highest civilian skills.
Hammer & Nail does not improve the number of boards from logs: frontier and wilderness does. (woops, that's called fauna and flora now). apparently it does
Natural Philosophy gives increased gemcutting chance, not mines and mountains (but mines and mountains will determine the difficulty of the gem)
Sugar & Spice does not decrease the full&fed up debuff when eating; rather, it increases the reduction in time you get every third glutton point.

Okay, but you immediately contradicts your own words.
Hammer & Nail does not improve the number of boards from logs: frontier and wilderness does. (woops, that's called fauna and flora now).

Wiki says it is Hammer & Nail.
Natural Philosophy gives increased gemcutting chance.

Nothing like this on the wiki at all.
So as you can see the wiki does not give any accurate information.

Yeah, sadly alot of stuff is outdated. I however can assure you that Kandarim is right.
