Yep,

Devs are gonna start a Kickstart Project, Cash Shop items will be pledge-items, they will raise 50.000$ and have a population of over 1000 active people each server...

... we can dream, can we ? ...

Dont need a kickstart project,

Open it up on Steam.. player base solved

need money? put a 5.99 or something price tag on it, put a sale weekend on for 50% off and players will roll in, pay for the privilege and buy off the store as well..

Want to keep it free? do pack offers on steam.. all these means have been used by many titles and indie developers recently and most are successful enough

The game needs more work before advertising. Not more content, mind you, just polishing up what we already have.

+1 to all of this. Steam Rocks. I've never had a problem with it, and it's a great idea.

As the river rolled over the cliffs, my own laughing joy was drowned out by the roaring deluge of the water. The great cataract of Darwoth's Tears fell over and over endlessly.

There were plans originally for steam support. It's possibly something we'll see in the future.

But how would it work for a free game? Wouldn't Steam require some fee then if there are no sales? Can Steam handle micro transactions?

Steam already handles free games and micro-transactions. They have an entire section dedicated to free mmos even. =)

From what I have seen those free MMOs come with some starter packs. But could it handle stuff like Salem hats?
Hmm are hats for Team Fortress 2 are sold on Steam as well?
I played some free MMOs on Steam but those games had their own shops, separate from Steam. So I guess that in such case there are some fees.

Hats can be bought in the TF2 store through your steam wallet. I think you're right that there are likely fees associated with the entire process but I'm not familiar with them.
