I have found a ton of those, and they all have grey streaks. I think that's just more iron.

Lol that was my first thought as well

what else is copper used for historically?

I can see maybe some alchemy equipment requiring it. lot of copper in those old labs

maybe new weapons?

Bronze is actually stronger than wrought iron, which seems to be what we've been using.
