Game Development: In the Shadow of Pixels

Postby jorb » Thu Feb 21, 2013 5:32 am

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

The game now runs JOGL 2. Not the shadow of a pixel's worth of difference was noticed, but there was much rejoicing nevertheless.

Civilizational drain on humours heavily increased.
Civilized areas increased in size due to a new civilization algorithm.

It is no longer possible for stand owners to withdraw items from a market stand at no cost.
Market Stand owners are now forced to set a price before putting goods in a stand slot.
The price of goods in stands are now only be possible to adjust within the span of ±50% of the originally set price.
The stands can now sell batches of items.
The weekly rent of stands has been increased to 1000s.

You can no longer teleport home with mounts (Chairs, boats, &c)
Fields built in strange places and ways have been destroyed and can no longer be built that way. Tears pl0x.
Claim Stones can be destroyed during a five minute window after each homestead secret spawn by it.
There is now a one minute cooldown on claim stones after each homestead secret spawn by it before the stone can again be used to spawn a new character.
Collapsing walls no longer deal splash damage to walls tougher than themselves.
Wall splash damage now traverses weaker walls.
Waste Claims now only show up in the Actions Menu if you have the appropriate skills.
Minimap player indicators rendered more opaquely so as to be easier to read.

Woven baskets can now be repaired with tinder
Windborne Kite and Dreamcatchers can be hung on walls
Hunting Trophy requires fewer boards
Locksmithing required for Mechanics
Locksmithing costs 2000 H&N instead of 2500
Mechanics costs 2500 H&N instead of 2000

Expect more meaningful content in the wilderness next week.

Update your clients, pl0x.

Enjoy!

Civilizational drain on humors...? Does this mean darkness drain was increased? If not, then what is civilization?

damn another week
“In a room sit three great men, a king, a priest, and a rich man with his gold. Between them stands a sellsword, a little man of common birth and no great mind. Each of the great ones bids him slay the other two. So tell me—who lives and who dies?”

That is what it means. However, the civilized area is also drastically increased in size, so the drain at any particular location is probably effectively decreased due to it being far more civilized.
