Plymouth crash, and a few accompanying changes

Postby loftar » Sat Feb 09, 2013 9:39 pm

Dear Salemmings,

As you probably noticed, Plymouth was down for a few hours, and the other servers with it. The problem was with the hosting company, somehow, but all the info I've got from the hosting company thus far is just that the physical server had crashed for some reason. (In case you weren't aware, Plymouth is also the server running the website and account server, which is why the other servers crash with it if it crashes. If one of the others were to crash, the rest should normally continue to run independently of it.)

The implications are the Plymouth got a rollback (to whenever the stuff concerned were last saved). Roanoke and Jamestown should be entirely unaffected.

Along with the restart, I also merged in some minor changes I had made the other day:
  • Functionality to describe persons from your kin list and memorize people from plots has been restored. (Ctrl+Right Click a personal plot to memorize its owner.)
  • You can now change your character's "presentation name" in the Kin window. The presentation name is the name that is used in the other party's kin list when you make someone your kin. (Or when a mayor invites someone to their town.)
To use those changes, you need the latest client.

I logged off about an hour before the crash and I haven't lost anything so the rollback is very small.

Oh and thnx loftar for restoring the game for us

the update also nice

I was chipping when the crash occurred and I lost the pickaxe my hands were holding. Odd.
