I would like to hope that if a world was going to be scraped there would be plenty of fair warning and the option to teleport your characters to different worlds at that time.

That's assuming nuking the world has to nuke the characters. Not sure how they programmed it, but there's no reason that's required due to us having multiple servers we're in the future going to be able to travel between.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
