To clarify:
Many games on Steam are Free to Play, but have store items bought through Steam, such as Founders Pack or Digital Starter Pack, etc. Salem would fit here perfectly in terms of garnering a larger user base - people who are generally used to making Steam store purchases: Salem would be free to install, with the optional Noobie Pack or Miner's Pack purchase and so on, run through Steam. Steam then gets a cut of the sale, which is where there is some iffy feel about the whole thing - plus I think they make it so you can't sell stuff anywhere except through Steam. So it is a tough choice for a developer to make.
You want to vote YES for Greenlight that you would buy the game so they can at least get the attention they deserve, and so that the devs can at least have that conversation with the guys on Steam. If MM decides not to go with Steam I would not blame them! But get that hype going! At the very least, a chunk of the millions of Steam users will see Salem and potentially give it a try. I really look forward to whatever success comes to Salem.
