Greetings Salemites,
The bad news is we have exhausted the last of our resources and time-budget towards making large improvements towards fixing the lag spikes. The good news is we feel confident after this next restart it should be SIGNIFICANTLY better. I cannot promise you anything as we don't have massive lag issues on our testing environment but we do think the new handling of some item ID's is going to significantly improve performance. As a small side-effect ANY scented items in the game that have been stolen recently will most likely not track anymore. NEW stolen items should work like normal.

We also decided to give you a few nice things in addition to the lagfix.


Take a seat please
*Sitting in a chair will now speed up the rate in which you recover from a fracture.
*Sitting in various chairs will now speed up the rate in which you recover yellow bile.
*Benches may now only be built in a church.
*Benches will now decay even on claim if taken outside the church.
*Praying on a church bench will transfer a small amount of black bile in exchange for a small amount of faith and wisdom.


Nice Things
*New Inspirational: Silk Hanky. A diseased and coughing player will not spread his affliction should he be holding a silk Hanky in his hand.
*New Potion: Butterbug Refresher.


Beauty & the Balance
*Herb Spawns have been further rebalanced. Rare Foragables should be less-rare.
*Monogrammed Pillow no longer adds arts and crafts.
*Players may now construct walls and various other things on lillypad tiles.
*Squirrel Cuts now take on the alchemical properties of the knife used when butchering the squirrel.
*Custom error message has been added for players trying to fast travel with an over-encumbered inventory.
*Custom error message has been added for players trying to fast travel while carrying something above their head.
*Custom error message has been added for players trying to fast travel while mounted.
*Custom error message has been added for players trying to fast travel while under a waste claim.
*Churches now have unique floor tiles.
*Fishrot Refreshers no longer require grubs.


New Ground Graphics
*Arogpelter Drumsticks now have a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Turkey Drumsticks now have a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Argopelter Neck now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Turkey neck now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*argopelterbreast now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Turkeybreast now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Argopelter Thigh now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Argopelter wing now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Turkey thigh now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*Turkey wing now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.


Tears
*Players may no longer fast travel out of a mine.
*Fast Travel to Providence now has a 10 minute cooldown.
*Fast Travel to Providence during a cold snap now has a 20 minute cooldown.
*Drinking Refreshing Potions now adds 10 Quaffed & Quenched
*Players who KO in the tutorial will now permanently die welcome to Salem.

Mini Update #1
*Funky Pumpkins no longer requires a new world gourd.
*Flesh Covered Gourd has been dramatically buffed.

Mini Update #2
*Fix'd a typo in Long Distance swimming.
*Fix'd a typo in Horticulture.
*Minor changes in the skill description of Mining.
*Mannequins now require 1 cotton cloth for the little shirt they appear to be wearing.
*The speed in which mannequins are build is now slower.
*Food Recipes made with squirrel will now have a "Made with Squirrel" buff and provide the appropriate bonus.
*It is now a crime to slice a fish in an inventory that does not belong to you.
*Weight on Nut stuffing has been reduced and now should be equal to the sum of its parts.
*Snowballs now last significantly longer in a cold snap.
*Snowflakes now last significantly longer in a cold snap.
*Fish Skeleton now has a unique ground graphic when dropped.
*The speed in which stamp mills stamp has been increased.
*Fix'd a bug in which buildings would display an error that they are not on fire when various items were clicked on them.
*New Structure: Potion Racks. Potion Racks can hold large volumes of Potions.
*Wardrobes now require embroidery in addition to cabinetmaking.
*Made a temporary fix to stop the bug that has caused some of the latest server crashes.

No doubt, luckily I have a habit of planning my trips to Prov in a way that I accomplish several tasks there at once. Though I can see how this will cause many many tears! I am curious of this though:

So, there is a CD on leaving a mine once you enter?
As if I care.

Pfft that already happened more or less. You'd sit there KO'd forever until a server restart and you vanished from eternity.

It simply means you cannot use the 'port to homestead' or 'port to providence' feature when you are underground.

UPDATE
Teleporting to town now on a 20 Minute Cooldown if its a coldsnap.
