Greetings Salemites,

I know you've been waiting awhile for this patch, but your patience is about to be rewarded. The eagerly-anticipated encumbrance inventory system is now a reality! In addition to that, we have a whole new crop, Potatoes, with new foods (and more to come). We've added a burial system, complete with tombstones and crypts. We've added the next level of Witchcraft with a whole new set of ways to mess with people. We've added more fun things to the Justice System to make whipping criminals even more rewarding. AND of course a fairly large rework to mining.

New Inventory System

Your inventory can now hold up to 1024 items. The size of your inventory will scale with the number of items you are carrying so that you can keep it small if you want by simply carrying less things.
Your inventory will scale dynamically based on the edge that you push through placing an item. This means that if you would like a wide inventory, simply place the items on the eastern edge. If you would like a tall inventory, then place the items on the bottom row to expand it.
Players now have an maximum carry weight. This is calculated by a percentage of your yellow bile. It can be modified through additional skills and buffs as well.
Players that exceed their carry weight will find they are slowed by a percentage. Players may not carry more than double their carry weight. Carrying more than double your weight will prevent picking up additional items.
Backpacks now behave like keyrings and toolbelts in that they are a separate inventory. They are now used for a reduction to carry weight of things placed inside them.
Barkpacks now hold 16 Items and reduce carryweight of items inside them by 30%
Backpacks now hold 20 items and reduce carryweight of items inside them by 50%
Fine Leather Backpacks now hold 24 items and reduce the carryweight of items inside them by 70%.
Pockets are still used for inventory you want to be able to teleport with.
NEW SKILL: Packrat. This will add 10KG of carry weight to the character.
NEW Hydration Buff: Mighty Muscles. MM will temporarily increase your max carry weight.

Additions to the Justice System

Players will now receive Justice Points for persecuting criminals. There is now a leaderboard for the Justice Points of the top 10 Players. Also, the amount of Humor damage you can do to a Criminal is dependant on how many Justice Points you have.

Players will receive 1 Justice Point for throwing a tomato at a criminal.
Players will receive 100 Justice Points for whipping a criminal.
Players will receive 500 Justice Points for putting a player in the stocks.

Base whipping damage has been reduced to 0.1 Humors for an online criminal.

Total damage will still be multiplied by 2 for an offline criminal.

Players may now get a tomato named Big Red. Big Red will cause a significantly higher Full and Fed Up debuff when thrown at a criminal.


New System: Burial

New Skill: Burial Rights
New Skill: Grave Robbing

Players may now bury their dead. First, build a Coffin. Second, prepare the body of a fallen player by placing it in the Coffin. Third, bury the Coffin to form a Tombstone. There are benefits to burying your dead aside from helping protect them from Witches.

Players may destroy Coffins and Tombstones to retrieve the skeleton. Skeletons can no longer be destroyed in any way.

Players may pay respects to deceased and decently buried characters. The descendant of that character will receive a 10% jump towards a single proficiency of the ancestor every 24 hours when they pay respects. Respects are paid with flowers.

Witches can now Desecrate bodies/skeletons. Such bodies can not be prepared or buried.
Desecrating a skeleton will leave a witchcraft scent.

Players who would like to honor their fallen even further may build crypts. Crypts can be entered and inside there is an object of which to place the body. Upon placing the body on this object it will behave identical to a tombstone. Crypts cannot be grave robbed, and instead a player must burn the crypt down first to gain access to the skeleton.


New Crop: Potato

Players may now plant Seed Potatoes, yielding a crop of both Potatoes and Seed Potatoes. As with all crops, there are three tiers of Potatoes in Brown, Yellow, Blue, and Red.

Players may now make Homefries.
Players may now make Hash Browns.
Players may now make Mashed Potatos.
Players may now make Potato Salad.
Players may now make New England Dinner.
Players may now make Shepherd's Pie.


New Skill: Handheld Explosives

Players may now learn a new skill: Handheld Explosives. Greek Fire now requires this skill to craft.

Players may now make Boomsticks.
Boomsticks may be used to blow things up. Most importantly boulders.


Changes to Mining

The purity of a mine is now based on the level you are on AND the distance from the ladder.
All Mines now spawn with all types of Minerals in them.
Only “hardrock” tiles in a mine require fire to chip. The remainder of the tiles are fully chipable.
Amount of phlegm required to mine has been adjusted.
Ore now spawns in Veins.
There is now a chance when mining inside a mine that it will drop you to a lower level.
Players may now Craft a Miners Hat.
Mines now have the darkness drain from which they are built in and no longer have the darkness drain based on how far from the ladder you go.
It is no longer a crime to do anything to anybody in a mine. All mines are considered ‘neutral’ territory and the tiles inside them cannot be owned.
Mining on Level 8 of a mine will have a risk to drop a player into a horrible place they don’t want to be where horrible people will now be able to access their mines and do horrible things to them. Don’t mine on level 8 if you are not prepared for it.

Silver Coin Minting & Debasing

New Skill: Coin Debasement

Players may now find Silver Boulders in their mines.
Players may now make Silver Bars.
Players may now mint Silver Bars into Silver Coins
NEW CRIME: may now commit the act of Forgery
Forgery lasts 5 months. Players should not engage in forgery unless they are doing so in a location they plan on securing for an extended period of time.



Gem Cutting

As part of our revamp of the mining system, we've added several new skills and a whole new system of gems and gemcutting.

New Skill: Mineral Sifting
New Skill: Gem Crafting
New Skills: Elementary Gemcutting, Tasetful Gemcutting, Elaborate Gemcutting

Rubble now has a use!
Rubble now as a Difficulty dependant on the Mines & Mountains of the player who Chips it.
The Rubble may now be Sifted. There is a chance to find a Raw Gem in Rubble while Sifting it. There is also a chance to find Black Sand or Golden Flakes while Sifting.

Players may now build a Cutting Wheel to cut raw gems into faceted gems that can be socketed.

There is a new Civilian Artifice Type: Affluence. Slotting cut gemstones will add to your Affluence Artifice.

Players may now only enter Boston Church if they have an Affluence Rating above 10. There will be further need for higher affluence in the future including a new Hut in Boston.

Gems may be cut in different ways, with Cabochon Cuts, Square Cuts, Pear Cuts, and Starburst Cuts. In addition to Affluence, each gem type will add to a certain Civilian Artifice.

Gems come in different sizes and give different affluence ratings depending on how many carats they are. The values range wildly depending on the carats of the gem used.


New Metal Types and Ingot Casting

*New Skill: Iron Almagamation
*New Skill: Cementation
*New Skill: Metal Smithing

Items and Structures that now require Wrought Iron include:
Badge of Ruin, IronHoe, MetalAxe, Pickaxe, Sturdy Sled, Halberd, Conquistadors Hat, Blacksmith Goggles, Shed, CarpentryBench, Braziers, Town Bells, Bread Oven, Gemcutters Wheel, Crucible, Cauldron, Finery Forge, Sword Blade, and Water Tower.

Items and Structures that now require Blister Steel include:
Brick Wall Gates, Stampmill, Meat Smokers, Copper Grinder, Lucky Horse Shoe, Prospectors Boots, Cart, Metal Chest, and Sharkbait.

Players may now build a Finery Forge
Players may now turn Pig Iron into Blooms in a finery forge.
Players may now build a Trip Hammer
Players may now make Iron Tongs
Players may now work blooms into Wrought Iron bars on a Trip hammer.
Players may now make a Cementation Furnace
Players may now craft stratified layers.
Players may now make Blister coffins
Players may now fire a blister coffin in a cementation furnace to make blister steel.
Players may now melt gold flakes into golden eggs.
Players may now make Steel axes which chop faster than their metal counterparts
Players may now make steel pickaxes which mine faster than their metal counterparts.
Players may now make a steel handsaw which provides faster board sawing than a stone axe.
Players may now make a steel shovel which digs faster than a metal shovel.



More Witchcraft Abilities

In keeping with the mystery of Witchcraft, the patchnotes here will give only general information.
New Witch Skills: Left Handed Path, Sinister Sanctum, Bloodworks.
Witches may now reach the Second Circle of Witchcraft. Such witches may no longer plan their estates or make out a Last Will.
Witches may now craft Forbidden Wands which may only be held by witches. Witches may also now craft The Unthinkable and The Unpalatable.
The distance from which a Witch can cast a hex now depends on the strength of her wand.
Animals may now drop Entrails.
Witches may now remove the Skull from a Skeleton.
Witches may now build Sacrificial Altars
Witches may now complete the Sacrifice of Blood, the Sacrifice of Bones, and the Sacrifice of Terror.
Witches may now cast Bloodline Curses: The Unthinkable and The UnPalatable.

Other New Goodies

Bird's Nests now fall from Trees.
New Sparrow Eggs may now be found in Bird's Nests and count as Any Egg in recipes. They may also be Hard Boiled.
There is now a crafting category "Any Poop"
The Miner in town has traded in his Conquistador's Helmet for a Fashionable New Hat.
There are rumors in Providence of a new recreational Drug becoming available. Pilgrims are reminded that those Drugs are bad for you. Don't do drugs.
Players may now light a Pinecone on fire and use it as a short duration Torch. Pinecones may now also be found on the ground in Coniferous Forest.
New Inspirational: Leafy Leftovers.
New Inspirational: Animal Crackers.
New Inspirational: Loyal Locket.
New Inspirational: Leader's Locket.
Snowflakes now spawn in Snow biome.
Frozen Frost Flower now spawn in snow biome.
Beavers now drop their Tails, which have 2 inspirational uses and can be rendered for Lard.
Snakes will now drop Forked Tongues.
Players may now dig Sand from beaches. Players may find a Horseshoe Crab while digging in the sand.
Players may now craft Iron Tongs.
Players may now craft Blacksmith Goggles.
Players may now craft a Silicate Compound from sands.
NEW SKILL: Glass Blowing
Players may now craft Glass Panes.
New Category in the Tools Crafting Menu: Pots & Pans includes Sifting Pan, Frying Pan, Clay Pot, Copper Pot, and Herb Pot.
New Crafting Category: Weapons includes Sabre, Sabre Hilt, Sabre Blade, Halberd, and Primitive Club.
New Crafting Category: Gem Cutting includes all new gem cutting recipes.
Players may now build a Piggybank.
Players may now craft two new Wallpapers: Spring Flowers, and Purple Petals


Sound and Graphic Changes

Ghosts from Traces of the Lost Colony now whisper to you their demise when studied.
Canines now have a new sound effect when studied.
Perfect Autumn leaf has a new sound effect when studied.
Colorful Autumn Leaf has a new sound effect when studied.
Oak Duff ahs a new sound effect when studied.
Rlyeh Fhtang has a new sound effect when studied.
Sand Dollar has a new sound effect when studied.
Scintillating sand has a new sound effect when studied.
Shed Skin has a new sound effect when studied.
Ghost Rider has a new sound effect when studied.
Bars of Soap now have a unique Sound when studied.
Bars of Rose Soap now have a unique Sound when studied
Beaming Proud Sunflowers now have a unique sound when studied.
Cricket Violin now have a unique sound when studied.
Foetid Ooze now have a unique sound when studied.
Golem of Prague now have a unique sound when studied.
Malevolent Pillow now have a unique sound when studied.
Turtle Rattles now have a unique sound when studied.
Singing Logs now Sing.
Centipedes now have a unique sound when studied.
Davy Jones Locker now has a unique sound when studied.
Beetle now has a sound effect when studied.
Stick Bug now has a sound effect when studied.
Giant Aphid now has a sound effect when studied.
Monogrammed Pillow now has a unique sound effect when studied.
Barleycorn masque now has a unique sound effect when studied.
Pilgrim's Bible now has a unique sound effect when studied.
Female Lifting sound effect has been modified.
Female Study sound effects have been modified.

Argopelter Eggs now have a unique ground graphic when dropped on the ground.
Deer Hooves now have a unique ground graphic when dropped on the ground.
Meat Shreds now have a unique ground graphic when dropped on the ground.
Steaks now have a unique ground graphic.
Raw slabs of meat now have a unique ground graphic.

There is a new Cursor for when the action of "Mine" is selected.
There is a new Cursor when the action of "Dig" is selected.

New 2D Inventory Graphic for the Caveman Club.
Greek Fire has been updated to have its crafting menu Icon better match the item Icon for it.
Bark Cup now has a new graphic when filled with water.


Beauty and the Balance

Pile of wood is now 2 hours to expire and is back to survival things.
Metallurgy now takes significantly less sparks and embers and is unlocked with coaling.
Blacksmithing has had its proficiency values adjusted.
Weapon forging now unlocks off Metal Smithing
Lovers Lockets now unlock with metallurgy.
Stamp Mills no longer grand additional boulder pieces above and beyond that which they would normally carry.
New Ingredient added to the Jam Sandwitch
Fixed a bug that caused teas to artificially lose their timer if logging out shortly after the timer was created.
New Animation for Butchering.
New Animation for Digging.
New Inventory Graphic for Boiled Yellow Morell
Challenge Authority now siphon off Authority at 960 Authority per hour once they have been up 4 hours.
Towns now Regenerate 120 Authority an hour once the Challenge Authority is removed.
Corpses will now display the buddy or kin name above them.
Clay Troughs now display how much milk of Lime is in them.
Iron Bars are now known as Bars of Pig Iron.
Players may now compost Maple Leaves.
Fix’d a typo in Crown Manure.
Tooltip has been added to the crafting menu for Columbine Paste.
Tooltip has been added to the crafting menu and inventory icon for Rattler Serum
Unequipping your axe or pickaxe while chipping boulders will cause you to stop after the current stone.
Wardrobes now have double the window size before needing to scroll down.
Pearls now have Affluence.
Black Pearls now have affluence.
Gold Buttons now have affluence.
Chantilly Lace now has affluence.
Gold Leaf Pin now has affluence.
Sterling Geode now has affluence.
Popcorn falling on the ground will now appropriately have alchemy.
Stone Saw now unlocks with Carpenty instead of Survival Things.
Roast Fish has been moved from Survival things to Fishing.
Players now sit correctly on Simple Chairs
Players may now put humus back into compost bins.
Turkeys should no longer get confused with their attack ranges and 'bug out' when trying to attack players.
Trees now fall 50% less far when chopped down.
Chopping trees is now faster.
The Success Rate of Planing Boards now comes off the Civilian Trait of Woodworking.
The Odds of getting an Amber resin now comes off the Civilian Trait of Woodworking.
Woodworking no longer speeds up the rate in which blocks are chopped.
Both Wood Blocking and Tree Chopping are now directly influenced by the type of the axe used to chop them.
Stumps now remove much easier.
Polished Leather Beadwork now requires White Corn Oil
Wishpoosh now drop additional Lards.
Digging on a town is now 'theft' down from 'vandalism'.
Added Missing Flavour Text to the Rat Teams.
Last will and Testament can now be dropped.
Woodblocks now have the alchemy of the bush they came from.
The Purity of Myrtle Acorn Leaves is now equal to the purity of the bush.
Fixed a Bug that was causing roudning errors on Field Upkeep.
Fixed an issue with a client crash the first time Tool Menu is opened after gaining survival skills.
Fixed a typo in Club Menu Icon
Locksmithing has been moved to a Sparks and Embers Skill. Law and H&N have been drastically reduced. Also Locksmithing is now available much earlier in the tech tree.
The Scent for Revenge will now be left at the end of the crime instead of the beginning.
Rubble Boulder Bounding Boxes have been reduced.
Turkey Eggs now only give a multiplier to Black Bile when used in Recipes. However the multiplier is now twice the previous value.
Scrambled Eggs may now be made with Sparrow Eggs.
Argopelter Eggs now take longer than turkey eggs to hardboil.
Scrambeld Eggs Recipe reduced to a single egg.
Hunting Trophy now requires deer antlers.
Hunting Trophy is now an improved inspirational for Hunting & Hideworking.
X-mas Stockings can now go in Wardrobes
Raw Turkey Parts may now be thrown in the Compost Bin.
Players may now band the claws of a lobster with Spruce Roots.
Milkweed Roots now correctly Count for vegetable foods.
Keys now require Iron bars instead of copper bars.
Master Keys now require Iron Bars instead of copper bars.


Tears

Players may no longer log out when they are carrying things over their heads.
Alchemy Robes may no longer be equipped into your shirt slot.
Townbells now require significantly more Materials to build.
Skeletons can no longer be stored in sleds / carts / etc.
Players may not enter the Boston Church if they have a disease.
Witches may not cast curses in the Boston Church.
Woodworking no longer speeds up whittling recipes
Woodworking no longer speeds up Carpentry Bench Recipes
Woodworking is no longer has a factor with teh speed in which a tree is chopped.
Uses on Lovers Locket have been adjusted down.
Players now use a very small amount of Phlegm when picking a branch.
Rare Spawn Foragables are now more rare.
The Purity of ANYTHING that I thought even remotely related to the 'old iron' purities has been significantly nerfed. This includes meat, fish, knives, swords, metalbars , oreboulders etc. etc.

*Trip Hammers may now be destroyed.
*Roasted animal cuts now weigh slightly less than their cooked verisons.
*Roasted Animal steaks now weigh slightly less than their cooked versions.
*Black sand now weighs the same as rubble.
*cabbages heads now always weigh more than the sum of their contents.
*Charred something now does not weigh more than the meat shreds.
*Fix'd a Typo in Abandoned Bird's Nest.
*Taking various damage as a female should not longer sound like a chipmunk.
*The Den now requires more Affluence to enter.
*The Den now features Green Blue and Red Ground Pillows for a more relaxed experience.
*Players may now make Steel Armour.
*fix'd a bug with Inspiration from Hunting Trophy.
*Savage Charm necklace now has an improved graphic.
*New Inventory Graphic for Loyalists Locket and leader Lockets
*Fix'd bug with both loyalist and leader lockets.
*Pushing now displays a gender neutral system message.
*Weight on Rabbit Pelts has been reduced and no longer defaults to the other pelts.
*Fix'd a typo in Homefries.
*Fix'd a bug that would cause some crashes when carrying a thornbush.
*Hunting Knives Fish & meat should now property transition their purity. Please let me know any items found that still don't.
*Minor fix to Finery forge and bellows. HOpefuly this catches however some of you seem to fail and bug out your forges.

Update #5

Fix'd major bug that caused at least 2-3 of the crashes earlier in the day.
Crispy Crickets now weigh the same as dead crickets.
Indian corn and roast corn now weigh less.
Pinecones should now weigh the sum of their contents.


Update #6

Fix'd a bug that was causing ore smelters to crash the server.
Furfur headbutts should now apply their dmg more quickly.
Frogs now hop more, and hop faster on swamps.
Players may no longer carry a downed lumberlord


Update #7

Implemented more items to go onto majesty stall.
Hash Browns now require a fryingpan.
Curiuos potato no longer counts as a potato for hte purpose of food. It is now a curiosity and the ingredient required for New England Dinner. This should cause less
confliction when the recipe is choosing the potato types.
Clay now weighs the same amount as the bricks.
Gem cutting has been adjusted. Success rates should now be higher on the lower cuts.
Fix'd a typo in the glassblowing skill
Civilian +MINING now decreases phlegm used in addition to providing small boosts to the purity found on each level.
*Fix'd Typo in Mineral Sifting Skill page.

Curious Potatos should now crash the server less.
Cave ins now drop softrock instead of hard rock.

Update #9

Large Urns no longer weigh more than the sum of their contents.
Mines and Mountains on Smooth Stones has been adjusted up.
Carpenters Bench now requires nails, down from wrought iron.
Players may now put Bricks back into Kiln's.
Fix'd a bug where charred something was hitting hte meat foodgroup.
Rubble and Gemstones now refer to their success odds of Cutting as "hardness". This is to cause less confusion that this mechanic has no bearing in the "Difficulty" the ending gem will have to socket.


Update # 10

Lumberlords now have a unique graphic when skinned.
Lumberlords should no longer have issue with their texture warping when KO'd.

I would also like to remind everybody that once again we made some major reworks to systems including your ancestors and direct manipulation of stats via honoring them etc. Because of this I consider the stability of the world now in question. We have backed up the server to RIGHT NOW just incase something terrible gets unleashed. In the event something terrible CAN be done it may force our hand to roll-back. Our testers literally spent hundreds of hours on these changes, but you are about to spend thousands. I apologize in advance if we missed anything major.
