WTF are you talking about? People can't even get affluence until they get mining, sifting and geodes going. To hit 250 is more like a minimum of gems and geodes which also takes gem cutting.

Vet players and the dev's are forgetting where most people are. Most players aren't able to make this stuff.

I'm sorry I forgot who I'm talking to. You being one of the biggest noobs in game slips my mind now and then. Thanks for the reminder.

All affluence items are for sale. Geodes are found from chipping. Sifting has nothing to do with affluence. Stop being a idiot.

Sifting = Gems = some affluence.

Granted not a huge amount but could add up quickly in a nice set with Geodes/orange easter eggs etc.
As if I care.

Ah yea I didn't even think of them because it was such a small ammount. Yes it would def add up. Those are also sold very cheaply on the stalls.

Seems the main point is that for most noobs the learning curve here is quite tough. Its just too much for many :P Add to that they now gotta know to and know how to go out hunting silver to buy tobacco, gems, clothing, etc etc. Can it be done, yes? Difficult, I'd have to guess yes at first indeed. Good point of it I suppose is that especially now, anyone lazy or half stupid just won't make it past day 3 or so.

Are you really gonna force people farm silver by finding savage charms and the like just to sell and pay for shredded tobacco penalizing people who enjoy playing the game.

Tobacco is meant to be an advanced crop for advance players, difficult to grow, highly in demand. It's one of the big reasons we changed fertilizers. Sure, it'll take a little while for this stuff to be available on the stalls, but I'm sure it will be fairly quickly and then newer and mid level players will have the ability to reduce their madness again just fine. Until then, I'm not very worried about newbies. Most of them will be so active with the inspirationals they won't have to worry at all.

And yes, it will be a ***** on the Expedition server to have to keep your insanity low for some time until some of the madness cures start coming available. Expedition is not for babies.

I see your point, Meow. My point was just that it adds more to the learning curve is all. Makes the 'culling' of new players a bit more intense. I wasn't really saying that was a good or bad thing.

Getting a teddy won't be too hard even if you can't hunt bears yourself yet if players will be willing to put up bear skins for sale in their stalls (as someone else pointed out here already, don't buy teddy bears directly).

But yes... the tobacco is VERY random. I bought tobacco from the kings season stall for 2k total; used 4 of those and I swear, it must been "watered" down with hay or something, because I didn't get one madness reduction at all from those puffs. I'm keeping the other 4 in reserve for now in case I go up more levels on accident as that at least increases the chance of success as well. Though for now my current time management method have proven effective enough to keep myself from gaining any more madness levels.

Also, certain people that got the Lucky skill must realize they have an easier time with the RNG than the rest of us...

JohnCarver wrote:Yes Yes Yes. I am well aware of the leniency here. Between a hookah and a teddy bear its entirely possibe to get like 12+ hours of 'free' playtime each day without worrying abut insanity/madness. This leniency will be countered with a more aggressive attitude towards when and how I make you insane (since its becoming easier and easier to mitigate it), as well as the complete and utter justification that I can allow another player to smother you with a pillow while you are sleeping in a bed. You have been warned.

Would you then add locked doors in houses, and a SMS/Whatsapp/Text/Email alert when someone begins breaking/burning your house?

Vexus wrote:The difficulty is so when expeditions come out, you're pretty close on the edge of buying silver from the store to get to the point where your character, or group of characters, can survive a fresh new world without going insane.

I think it is pretty damn good.

Imagine the group of 30-humor characters taking on a bear so they can each take turns sleeping with the teddy bear.

I was certain that when JohnCarver basically said "tobacco will be the only way to reduce madness, period" he meant it. I really, really like the idea of having a cash-crop in Salem. It will make the town system that much more rewarding.

But now, nope. No difficulty. No real need to buy silver in the store. I dislike the Teddy Bear for Madness reduction =/

I am sorry I disappointed you with this change. I've decided that I'm going to go with the idea that Beds can be a bit OP in a variety of ways, and then to counter-balance this fact probably let you kill people in beds ¦]
