I started on level 2 madness, and used a trumpet a few times (20-30) to lower my insanity to what i asume is 0.

Wasnt awear you could lower madness levels with a hookah, must have misread the patch notes.

To confirm, i smoked 10 puffs of bright-leaf and lost a total of 0 madness level, started at level 2, finished at level 2.

EDIT:

Taking a draw from a hookah now removes a great deal of insanity.

So you are either mistaken, or your patch notes are lieing.

I read Marps lovely explanation of tools becoming questionably usable, problem with that is this:

Tools that were created by a sane person (ie before the patch or by someone with 0 madness) WERE indeed the correct tool. If it were a questionably usable tool a sane person would see that right away, not after having it for months and months then oh suddenly it never was real! If you have a steel shovel then, you have a steel shovel. However, if you are mad you might get confused and forget how to use it. No matter how mad/insane you are you cannot mindbend a steel tool into a ?. Your madness may cause you to view this tool as questionable usable but a sane person would be able to see it for what it REALLY is. In such case you would probably just need to take a break and do some calming tasks for a bit, ease your mind. Eventually you'd come back to enough senses to see the tool is as it always was, and not questionably usable. At really high levels of madness it may become more and more difficult to clam yourself but at lower levels it probably wouldn't happen often or be too much of a nuisance.

i just used two gold tobaccos to go from lev 2 to lev 0 so your tobacco must suck.

been using bright tobacco on various alts and the results have been similar,use a pipe and stop smoking it by throwing it in a campfire.

Im using a tobacco pipe.

You are clearly ***** or there are some ***** up randomness attached to smoking tobacco, as i have previously attempted to use a gold leaf tobacco in a tobacco pipe to lower my Lv1 > Lv0 madness and it failed. You can read back in this thread to find my post if you wish.

Half of the reason im pissed about my tools when smoking tobacco seems to fail's so much, hence i was not too bothered about having level 1/2 madness too much.

Knowing you and the amount you troll, i would go with you are ***** your numbers.

i spent 4k or so on tobacco before my fields came in, each one of those lowered by one level.

fields came in and i have gone through another 15 or so charges of gold/bright with identical results, across numerous characters.

Whatever, its actually stated clearly that it becomes less effective at lower insanity levels. So either you are lying or have been extremely lucky.
