They are good at this game because they know the game, they research the game, they try things out in game.
They were here first because thats what they do, and the devs could use them to actually BETA TEST the game.
I have a slight.. and I mean slight advantage over noobs cos I played haven, and as such I have an idea how the devs minds work and can see similarities to haven, but the fact is, that unless you are testing all the mechanics you wont be as good as the people who are.
They were here first and are where they are because they work at it. They look into all the possibilities. They grind stuff to see how it works.
If you really want to compete, learn the game as well as they have, know all the details, work out the numbers, find the shortcuts, work at it.
I have respect for these people cos they are researching what is going on in game, and are actually sharing it.
Now quit expecting to have the world given to you on a plate.

You are right about everything. It`s fine to have some players testing high content. But the game mechanics will be the same if and when there is a reset: progress accelerates when your level (purity, skills,stats...) etc. gets higher. So this system generates "super-mens". And some of those supermens will kill all the others. Casual players will be first.
So progress needs to slow down it self...so you can work out some advance but on the long run it will be getting harder and harder to keep it. That`s how it should be.

Titans for characters have little to do with it. Think about the game mechanics before you describe something that is really pure fantasy.

I'm happy that development continues. Unfortunately, the updates lately have made it nearly impossible for me to skill up.

My character, on Jamestown, was raided and lost everything of value that wasn't in my locked metal chest. Upkeeping my claim has been difficult with my humours maxed at 16 phlegm and 11 blood, the drain required to chip stone, shoot a few when I miss is a real pain. The raider walled off my access to my mine. I was working up to pumpkin planting but my potted rose was stolen along with my pumpkin seeds (cereal, too). I'd buy some from the one player who's selling at a "reasonable" price but I just don't have the silver to do so. Starter seeds should not be so expensive, corn and pumpkin should be available at the vendor stall, too.

At this rate, I'm never going to catch up and all my efforts are just waiting to be raided because I'm not strong enough to fight back. I know where the thief lives there's just nothing I can do about it. At least make it so us newbs can kill crickets again without having to chase them around with a slingshot. It is the only constant source of silver I have.

sad story.
but you really should know that it is not going to happen. besides inspirations is better now than before. you can get your stats up by simple roasted meat.
go look for snake skins in Tree Stump. there is alot of ways. or just sit back and wait for the reset, if you really want to "catch up". and that might never happen :)

btw, don't give darwoth your coodinates, he will kill you for that post.
sorry dar for taking away your fun for today ¦]

This is a clear example of the theme of this thread: some people are better at the game than others. No amount of changes or server resets are going to change that.

Liren is obviously not as good at raising his humors as other folks are - you can hit mid 20's without agriculture, probably more now with purity changes.
Liren is obviously not as good at combat as other folks are - you can easily agro crickets with wander / stomp, rabbits with run / stomp.
Liren is obviously in a bad location but has not moved - if your neighbor walled off your mine just to grief you, you need to move ¦]

Liren wasn't going to "catch up" to anyone before the patch or before the raid. Liren needs to get better at the game and stop blaming changes and the actions of others for their shortcomings.

Liren,

I'm not meaning to single you out, I'm just making an example. Come over to the Help forum and we'll get you up to speed :D Also, the wiki is a great, if not always up-to-date, source of information.
