a full bar fraction from death level 9 madness is countered with 20 seconds of tobacco smoking which has been on the vendors since patch day and on player vendors 12 hours later.

satan salts are avaiable for about 20 silver a charge and last hours.

every pocketwatch i have was purchased from a newb.

tea costs nothing and takes only a few minutes to boil.

anyone that has a canoe can make a canoe paddle and a patchwork pocket to carry it in.

i reiterate that all of you ***** about the logout timer are retards.

You may throw insults as much as you like, it still does not change the fact that a more experienced player is likely better equipped than a newbie, who likely does not run through the forest with:
- active satan salts
- a canoe on his back
- pocked watches ready to use
- a full stack of phlegm regeneration tea buff for running

And therefore is easy prey if there is no water body very close by.

I don't understand why you guys whine about this.
I have yet to see a game where newbie would have upper hand on experienced players.

It is normal that experienced player has better gear and preparation than newbie.

Instead of whineing, help the newbies, take them to your towns, teach them to play, or stand up to criminals and make order to the server where people don't kill newbies.

If a newbie want and desires to survive the salem, he can, all he need is a bit of will and wizdom.

Besides that, JC clearly said, and if you guys havent realised it yourself yet, log on and try, IT WORKS, you can make bed out of leaves and branches and use that to log out instantly!

Salem is meant to be harsh and hard, stop trying to change that.

It is NOT about a newbie beating an experienced player, and never was, it is about survival.
As it is now, a newbie has not the slightest chance to escape, that is the point!
(As I said, without a body of water nearby and a canoe (that rather new players don't have!), and/or rather expensive (over time) preperations.)

Also, thanks for (probably intentionally) mixing things up, yea, try taking a bed with you while traveling outside, or carry the mats with you and craft it while a 200+ biles character with satan salts and pocketwatch is running at ya!
Also, GL bringing "justice" to providence!

Also, this has nothing to do with being "hard", and you know this.

I think newbies are in much better position now than a year ago. With TBCs I doubt that veteran players would risk their characters to loot a noob in pilgrim cloths. Not even talking about murdering

That's what disposable murder alts are for.

And GL doing TBC against someone who is either part of a rather active and high level group or online 24/7 anyway.
Tell me how that went the last few times someone tried that...

Somehow sacrificing an alt with murder skill (which either took a lot of inspiration to learn, or the 7.5$) to kill a few newbies doesn't seem so plausible to me.

You just provide the scents to the other faction which might be interested in killing some of their enemies.

Problem is, that here noone want to help newbies -> just read what people say, and write here -> Players dont take new people to towns as they are affraid that they alts of some riders. Only a few people are willing to help, while others are happy to see newbies sick, to block them while carrying something and steal from them, to give them log with gnome so they drop all their stuff and rob them, to lure bear to town etc. When my friend started to play he asked some guy where is a teleport, and guy showed said "follow me", took him outside of the providence, and KOed him... and these are only couple of examples. So where he should ask for help? Forum? Most of people here just flame on newbies and laugh at them how stupid they are.

BTW. I don't dislike the patch -> to be honest I like it. The problem for me is a way as it was published -> not much info, and tons speculations from players, and Dev team that instead of cutting speculations (look at this topic how many post it took to get answers for mostly basic questions about the patch) and telling how it works just ignore them:

JohnCarver wrote:Your post was full of inaccuracies, speculations, and in some cases lies. I didn't respond because it was only going to escalate where I probably just smited you in-game.

In overall that doesn't look like newbie friendly envoirment to me. I don't want this game to die like it already did once, when only around 50 experienced players were playing, and no new players comming.

Well said, I guess I had forgotten how bad many of the people are who play or how nasty everyone's attitude is including the Devs in the forums. Love the game, but seems like there should be a disclaimer saying "Warning, this game is not intended for general use. This game requires the ability to shed tears in vast quantities or have an addiction to drinking them. It is recommended that if you are not a sadist, masochist, jerk, bully, griefer, or ******* you should not even attempt to play this game."

My first reaction to this patch was that it was a distraction to hide the other things they messed with (teleport delay, delay for logout, etc) and I admit I am completely confused as to why I am hearing voices when my faces are in the level zero status, but overall I have yet to see any game breaking issues.

I think everyone should have to read the forums for a couple hours before starting to play to see what kind of people they are about to get involved with, that might help scare away the folks without thick skin. Maybe when they are done with all the crazy things in the pipeline they will start a second world just for the farmville/minecraft folks. The Salem PVE server, or RP server? Even I would veto that one, but who knows. Oh well, back to picking flowers and chasing butterflies.... the work of a carebear never ends.
Awwww...Care Bears are so cute!!!!

Dallane wrote:I like how you idiots think that higher biles mean faster run speed.

It doesn't mean faster run speed, it means longer run speed ofc.

Kandarim wrote:also note that satan salts and (I think?) pocketwatches just have an insanity penalty added to them, restricting the possibilities of use for those "titans"

...again the bigger thing is longer run time with higher biles and for that matter the ability for a 500 stat guy to one hit KO a 50 stat alt.

It's easy to make a 50 stat alt if you've got the crops, clothes, food and table already in place but if all you have is a little mid-level Pclaim and one 50 stat mid level guy then it's not as easy to make another one quickly.

What Darwoth loves about this is that he can now catch people outside their claims or towns, pop some satan salts, run them down, one hit KO them and then bring over his murder alt to kill them all because they can no longer just log out if they see him on their modded mini-map.
