For me as a developer the beauty of a world in this state is that I can assume that there are players who will be able to test whatever "high-end" mechanics I introduce in a meaningful fashion, as they'll have the resources and infrastructure and whatnot to do so.

I personnally like the new system. I was hoping this sort of thing would happen. It adds end-game content, keeping hardcore players engaged with goals not achievable in a week, allows for slow/continual growth and improvement of your settlement. It adds a slight increase in the importance of the map, making it valuable to travel/explore/trade at times. It does add more complexity to growth (good thing/ not bad). This type of game is not meant to be 'won' by doing everything possible in a short duration...

The interesting thing bout this patch, is both the experienced and new players feel like they are losing out. Experienced players have to do more that they use to , they are no longer at the end of the game, and new players will have to work harder to get to end-game.

It is hopefully just the start of many similar fixes. If a server reset were to happen, i would much rather it only happen once, and after all the big changes that effect game play are released (things that add resources, change base defense mechanics, or effect the importance of you location are those types of changes). Other big change that will effect game play... MINING rehaul (addition of new metals? this will likely change the importance of different zones, in a way that would make sense to have a reset).

Anyways, keep up the good work team. Expect resistance to change, it is normal.

They also got more time to find and use the exploits and get an even bigger advantage that the rest will never get.
Also people who invested actual cash in the game and now are set back because of this might not be happy, unless there will be a refund when the game comes out of beta.

*edit: making the lower level guys think sod it, ill do something else.

And when the testing is done?

Welp, my only concern about this has been settled. I already had faith that it'd ultimately get fixed, balanced, and eventually people would be given a chance to start anew, when the game released and all mechanics would be in play. The one concern I had was that there was very little communication from the devs after 54 pages of fuss from the community. Now that that's been addressed, I can perhaps play with the mechanics introduced last patch a bit more, in anticipation of the mechanics to be added on thursday :D
