Yea updates like this are sad

And imho it won't help medicore people, their bases will get raped by hardcore players in few months, because they will get high enough food to cross magic biles cap :/

I think gluttony should allow newbies and medicore players to level up faster, but hardcore slower...
I saw somewhere chart with purity/multiplier and it wasn't linear... draw there second line with biles/multiplier.

Characters under 100 (imho reasonable biles for medicore people) would "see" real food multiplier like we all see right now, but when you go above 100 biles your mighty character would see lowered values.

As example food for 70 biles character would have +100 blood value during gluttony, but for 200 biles character same food would be +50 blood value.
During gluttony low biles character would level up faster, but higher you go lower gluttony food values you get, so medicore people should be happy with lesser grind and hardcore players would care more about their high biles characters.

What if this was their plan all along? Or maybe not their plan, but an outcome they were fully aware of or even happy with? Too me HnH is far superior in most ways, even though its still considered alpha. The two big pain points for a lot people were the graphics and lag. Personally I prefer HnH graphics, while obviously I despised the lag, that lag is now gone.

Assuming Salem has been fully backed financially by Paradox, the only loss to the devs would be their personal time, which could be written off as a learning/growing (wallet) experience.

There seems to be a fine line with games like this when balancing the amount of grind/busy work needed to progress. On one side it helps add value to actually progressing, as nothing is easy. But once you cross that line and it becomes more tedious than worthwhile, a lot of players will begin to lose interest in the game.

Eh, sure i lost quite a lot of interest. I may like the crafting part, but such a change means i have basically to start from scratch again. I had only salt crops and i haven't even been able to find salt forageables/water/anything near my camp, so either i build a new base near a good salt terrain (and this would require me to spend again silvers for a claim, glass panels for houses and so on) or i have to get crops fitting for my location (as it would happen if i just started playing). That is, if i don't get raided in the meantime.
Guess i'll simply wait for them to finish with the gamebreaking updates and for a new server, eventually.

I expect some drastic changes in next weeks update or this game is in big trouble.

My mind set for a long time was to be an anti-criminal. This patch has deflated all hopes of mine and my village members in future industry changes. All passion and enthusiasm for the game has been wiped out and all that remains is our high biled fighters and super fortress HV's. If someone such as myself that has generally not been a 'PK' for over a dozen years in full loot / open world PvP games has decided '***** this let's kill/raid everyone because that's all that is left to do' then I can only imagine what the other strong factions are doing/planning now.

Out of the 400+ posts on this topic... I just want to thank the people that are actually trying to help explain what the update means for actual gameplay.
I believe maybe 40 informational posts in all.

Sorry I couldn't be one of them as well but I'm a new player and still learning.

Why would you have to go all the way unconscious, traumatized/neglected part of Jorb's mind expects you to? Is it not better to hibernate, express your opinion to other people and thus express/defend your own idea of what fun game looks like? Where is the limit where we all commit suicide just because Jorb again started yielding to the "Come to the dark side!" voice?

Its a game.. and I refuse to be pushed around and become desperate. Its silly. Tho Ill give some effort attempting to change things through expressing my opinion. Nothing is impossible.. we just have to ignore our expectations.

Jorbtar, if the system is kept please address this:

Tree Grind: ten days per generation is ridiculous, especially with the high probability of a cutting producing nothing but a branch. Likely people will eventually have bad luck and have to sit around with nothing to do but wait for cuttings to regenerate.

So I have only managed to read 16 pages so far. But a thought has occurred to me that I'm not sure anyone has mentioned. If there was a server wipe after every massive change to the game no one would be able to test it, and essentially determine if it was good or needs tweaking. It would take at least weeks for those über dedicated to skill up and test for example the raiding system.

When it comes to this purity update I believe the best solutions would be either new server or some sort of cap on characters with extreme humours.

I'm personally not affected a whole lot since I misunderstood how to effectively farm for weeks, and have little to no good purity (created on my own). But I do find it funny that all those people who used to mock newcomers, who found out the hard way Salem isn't for them, are now the ones whining and possibly leaving.

"Don't get attached. The game can change unexpectedly anytime". ;)
Reminder to self: Patience is a virtue.

Imho, the main problem is that a similar change should have happened, like, in alpha. Or early beta. Not in an open commercial beta.
