But those paying close attention will realize that it is quite easy for me to 'limit' alts now as even a 'slow' amount of insanity gained while logged off would create a fairly real burden for having multiple alts. At this moment in time though I don't feel it is necessary but is nice to finally have an option to put a stop to mass-alts.

Yeah, so if You someday implement such drain, a newbie with 30-40 biles will go out for holidays, and wont be online for 3 weeks, he will permadie... Great idea to get rid of everyone that is not so addicted, that he check salem each day even on holidays, and all of the newbies that dont use forum (most of casual players play for relax, not to spend half of their free time on forum, searching for all patchnotes with ways they can die -> At least make one huge topic, and stick it into the top of the forum with all ways player can permadie or implement diseases, blood moons, and insanity to a tutorial), also most of people arent so addicted to check forum everyday. If not a friend that told me on skype not to log until i read patchnotes, i would not even know about the problem.

Applying some absurd metric to combat insanity like 25% of the playtime would certainly make things look silly. Unfortunately, it would make the person making up the absurd and silly numbers look silly too.

Silly like what? 200 PvP players with swords, halberds, running around to catch butterflies, and gather flowers?
Don't forget to implement rainbow and unicorns -> all PvP players loves unicorns,

And making assumption's... well.. maybe something is wrong with me, but while i like things like witchcraft to be secret, but things that can make my character, that Ive spent weeks/months to make, including some real cash payments at store to be more precised that "a lot", "a bit". I know multiple people (and You can find a lot of such people on forum too) that are affraid to log in, cause they dont know if "TREMENDOUS" mean that you will die when blood moon occurs even while you have small amount of insanity on you.

P.S. You need blood moon to be some maintenance break? Cause You're doing EVERYTHING, that noone would log in, while it occurs.

P.P.S. "Don't Starve" is fast paced game in "nightmare" envoirment, while Salem is slow paced crafting survival based on legends of XVI century pilgrims. I read a lot of history books about those times, and those legends and I dont remember any part about half population beeing dead because of insanity. You should at least spend some time to modify this mechanism to fit the story of Your game instead of ctrl+c ctrl+v ideas that just dont fit here. What now? We will plant butterflies to make flowers?

P.P.S. After reading patch notes i assume, that anyone who is online while stocked to get less dmg from whip will just become insane and die from afk'ing, as he cannot take any other actions ?

If your Java Process is still running in your background your character will stay on indefinitely. If you have force closed Java, and have 'appropriate logout conditions in-game" I.E. you have a leanto, not on an enemy claim etc, then you will log out with the CNTRL-ALT-DELETE of the process.

John, about reducing insanity from foraging flowers, do such things as milkweeds, clovers, oakworth, wild garlic and Fiddleheads count?

And with gardening, do all actions reduce insanity? Like adding humus and water, potting the plant, and harvesting the plant?

Felt it might be a good idea to add these details to the wiki if you're willing to indulge us. :D

I'm sorry if you're experiencing it that way, personally I've yet to hear any whispers. :/

Players may now experience a Psychotic Episode where an all-consuming flame washes over their inventory.

I Was harvesting coal piles, and got this.

It starts as a tiny flame consuming 1 item every 4-6 seconds or so, after a few items are destroyed it grows bigger.

It had 3-5 growth stages

Once it gets to maximum growth it destroys 1-2 items every second, and it cares little for what items they are. (I lost iron ore, coal, unscattered wood, and a few pig iron bars im very sure)

I just lost a chunk of some very sexy iron ore as i decided to test what It was doing.

If you ever Get this Flame DROP YOUR WHOLE INVENTORY INSTANTLY, so the flame despawns, Or SUFFER MASSIVE POTENTIONAL LOSS

@JC, This flame caused me to crash when i tried to screenshot it (forgot to copy the report of the crash), but it really did piss me off, when the flame spawned, it was removing my most recently collected item (The coal), but on my relog, it started to remove my up most top left item (normally my most expensive items) luckly i was carrying only ore (even if it was sexy ore) so not a big loose, really annoying.

@Everyone. DO NOT CARRY EXPENSIVE ITEMS WHEN COLLECTING COAL, OR RISK GETTING BURNT. MY BEST ADVISE IS EMPTY YOUR WHOLE INVENTORY PREHAND

My understanding of this statement is that the addition of insanity only occurs at the moment of the beginning of the blood moon ("when a Blood Moon occurs "), but if you log in during a blood moon, you're not affected.

Am I right ?!?

You are correct.

Yes, anything that is 'any flower' counts. Only planting the herb in the pot lowers the insanity, not adding the water or the humus.

I was very mad, so I really need to take a break and go to sleep
Do not play me for 30 hours.
I really liked the patch! :)

Rest in a chair in a big house with a bookshelf (at least 50 different books), and other luxuries, must stop the madness. The owner of the house have to be only 1 player. Guests should not act or even accelerate madness.

Fun little story. Mostly accurate here :). I will say that the fire is only large enough to consume all in its path once you have nurtured it to that intensity with Coal. Dropping the coal from your inventory and snuffing the fire out that way should be enough, but yes, to be safe if you have any madness levels it would be advisable not to harvest coal with expensive things :).

Some clarifications for the wiki, if you have the time...

JohnCarver wrote:Seeing a Wishpoosh adds a tiny bit of insanity.
Seeing a Quetzalcoatl adds a tiny bit of Insanity.
Seeing a Hydrukey adds a tiny bit of Insanity.

Does this mean when one of these are loaded onto your tile? Or do you have to be close to it?

*Picking Flowers from the wild now lowers insanity.
*Planting things in your pots now lowers your insanity.
*Players who are listneing to music played by other players that would change a biome will find that it soothes them and lowers their insanity as well.

For the other things you mentioned you specified a little a good deal a lot etc, how much do these remove?

Thank you.
