I don't want everything from HnH over here, but there are some cool systems and content on HnH that I'd love to have here. Tree Spirits/Ents, beehives, rams etc...plus some of the mechanics, movement combat. So yeah some of it not the whole game. They're pretty close anyways.

If your goal is to have a game with a lot of people playing, permanent death is very bad idea. This will generally be your new player cycle

1. create character
2. spend some timing figuring out how things work, raise some proficiencies, gluttony a bit, build some stuff
3. get killed
4. never play again

I think you need to have some way to protect the new players so they stick around long enough to care about the game. Maybe have a month long no-kill period. Or maybe make pk-ing an opt in process, so some people can play peacefully, if they choose to. I'm sure there are other good ideas around.

I also think there needs to be more stuff to do in the end-game. Killing each other is probably not that great for player retention either.

Good evening,

Constructive criticism is not a bad thing. Fanboy-ing for HnH all over the Salem forums, is.

The "master masons" should feel a personal responsibility for the rough road Salem has had so far. Shoddy advice, sycophantic fawning in private, lack of support in public, and allowing personal and political disputes get in the way of what is best for the game and the community.

The development team has admitted they've made some mistakes and will be attempting to change course to correct it. It's time for their inner circle to do the same.
