mine farming was talked about being fixed by the devs way back in dec in a random thread. also the whole MM vs GH thread had them yacking back and forth about the mine farms being bugs that will be fixed "soon"

In some random thread devs talked about how mine farms were amazing and not a bug...

see how that works? A quick search of loftar/jorbs post history, search anything referencing the word "mine", finds nothing at all to do with fields in mines. Never saw anything on the bug tracker either.

This would have been prior to August. If I recall correctly, it was before beta keys were even being handed out in quantity. Because you weren't around to see it doesn't mean it wasn't stated. There are two closed forums only a handful of people have access to and one of those only the devs and Paradox Plaza mods can still see. So, no, you may not have seen it. Finally, a bug or exploit is still just that. It doesn't need to be a public declaration other than being fixed at some point. As pointed out elsewhere, these things get prioritized as to how much they damage the game environment and difficulty to fix.

You're absolutely right on that point. It is the core of the argument being made, and your point is so obvious it is pointless. Poor prioritization and bad assessments of damage are exactly what is being discussed. In this case, the question is should an announcement have been a priority to alleviate concerns of people whose fields would be nuked, but who weren't "abusing" the long standing bug (some fields with 1 tile overlap) and how much customer relations damage is inflicted by a failure to do so.

Personally, I wasn't affected by the changes (my main account is "Champie" and I have been playing since Nov 10), but Gallient is making a reasonable argument that I can support.

Was a special announcement necessary, though? Many of us gave ample warning that the devs will likely nuke all the abused fields. Even jorb himself said that he will nuke all the fields when it's time for a fix. If people can't take that as a warning that it's coming and to move their quality fields to "normal" locations, a 24 hour or even week warning wouldn't have been enough.

Just as an fyi on the drains on biles - I lived in 25 darkness before the patch, and ended up in light 52. Gave me the .1 drain as everyone is talking about.
Now for the new thing for the thread, i wasnt happy about ending up in light, as i like to kill marsh hares, anyway, i found darkness or at least a value around 40, which gave me a drain of .3 instead (lowest of my biles was 70).

The devs did say the drain was increased a lot, and it seems now that we have to rework how we live in darkness as the consumption of food has increased a lot.

Has anyone else tested going into darkness yet and seen how it affected their biles ?
Does anyone have an idea on how to survive for long stretches of time in darkness ?

So subjectively to you field mines are unquestionably a bug thus I should have seen it coming? Or I should have believed some random that it was actually a bug regardless of it not being listed as a bug anywhere with some legitimate standing? Mine fields are not an obviously unintended mechanic. Considering other buildings and actions are restricted on mine tiles it is perfectly reasonable to assume if jorbtar didn't want it, it would have just been turned off in the same manner. Something that happened more than 6 months ago with no digital evidence of it ever happening does not really back up any point whatsoever that paying customers should have known and thus deserve to be nuked without warning.

Whether given the opportunity to turn on gluttony mode in darkness? Because now it seems impossible, and do it using the barrel in Boston is not very convenient.

This game is in beta, and is free to play. I have a hard time believing that you spent real money to set up your farms, and if you did, well, tough ****. There is a disclaimer when you buy things that clearly states the possibility that you will lose your purchase.
