Hate to break it to you sweetheart. Nobody here who has disagreed is in any way the 'Top' pvper' when it comes to damage done, items stolen, or kills accomplished in the existing OR previous systems.

They are certainly the most vocal, but no self-respecting "top" pvper would let a single-guy go for weeks on end as the top of a leaderboard unchallenged. Meanwhile, all I see here are "Sheep" who are scared they are going to get herded again by a single guy and are trying to advocate against the very systems that allowed them to get their asses handed to them in the first place.

No, I will not change the entire core of the game to allow the casuals who got owned on Providence to have a better chance to compete against the hardcores who owned them in the first place. Expeditions are intended to simply be another venue for the inferiority of the 'losing group' to be realized all over again with hopefully a few twists in how the drama unfolds.

Part of me thinks you are trying to be sarcastic. But yes, if darwoth is the ONLY player who will "have what it takes" then so be it. I could really care less if the rest of you lack the skills to compete in the systems I design so long as ONE player can rise above them then they are working as intended, they were not meant to cater to the masses in the first place.

I think that is the beauty of your game. People really can make a name for themselves by being bad ass, or the village doctor, and now even a bard. The possibility of being noticed for your efforts are much higher. Go play some other game and kill something hard and you are still one in a million. The witch that takes out the statues or even the small group of people who defend a statue for days on end will be noted for their efforts. That alone makes the game very interesting and competitive.

Right except you forgot the part where zergs will be with this witch at every point loading cannons at every moment to pray at each statue accordingly, but whatever jc can have his server how he wants, he's set on his goals for it, and not like what we say will change that.

He probably collected a whole lot of data and analyzed them already. I think he's a very logistic man so I believe in his decisions. We should at least consider the first expedition as a test, everybody should remain calm and see how things work out.
Me personally, I think it's gonna be great.
P.S. I like the zerg, and prefer to call them "group players". Or, normal socializing persons.

No, this sounds like some FPS where you simply 'respawn' with limited consequence from death and where players are engaging each other everywhere because the risk of loss is too light and the barrier of entry is so easy.

This is not PVP easy-mode. This is not a server where players will throw around their chars because they are easily rebuilt or kill other players because raiding is easily accomplished. There will be massive death and carnage being handed to those who are deserving of the reward that sweet death and carnage is. I have no intention of letting the new-age "Lightweight carebear raiders" under our reign have any taste of the glory of Salem Raiding. Players can learn to man up and raid as it was in the olden days, or get steamrolled(read cannon'd) over and over again as I suspect will happen to everybody in this thread who is "pretending" to have what it takes and want 'hard-mode' while simultaneously ***** it is in fact "too hard".

I did not post this in casual point of view as I'm playing on the current server.
I commented in the point of view that the server is time-limited (in my head i went for the 3 months).
Will it be worth putting all our efforts & time into the expedition? because basically it's a Providence with cannons & statues with a limited lifespan, hence the assumptions that current long-grind-rewards would be nicer with 'shorter timers'.

Then again, the inheritence statue is there to make sure that hard work comes back to providence, I guess.

I have full confidence this will happen...

..... If I run over you with a car I still get credit for running you over not the car.... Yes there will be zergs but when the drama unfolds on the forums there will be a small handful of people who will have that credit.

Is "winning" an expedition and being recognized as the sole victor of Salem "Worth" the effort? I recognize that there is an entire group of people who have been raised or otherwise had the mentality beaten into them that "Winning" doesn't matter, being the best is over-rated and "#1" is just one number higher than "#2". Again, this system is not for them, they have providence to live out their days.

The incentive here is to be recognized as the winner. That is the reward in itself (and probably a statue of yourself back on providence). If pounding your chest and flaunting your greatness don't appeal then the core motivating factor of the entire thing doesn't jive and best you play the expedition for other reasons (trying to keep it going for as long as possible, sending home the best animal you can breed, etc. etc.)

Yes let us change the subject.

You can breed animals, they have (6) genetic traits to them. Three that you want, three that you do not. You then want to selectively breed them with the best possible suitors. The offspring will then choose to 'look' like one of his parents or grandparents and will be weighted genetically to the most dominant genes. The other grandparents and parents will play a role in his stats and so will a bit of random.
