why is every one so exited for the ground leveling tool when we already have one from ender. >.<
i would rather them at least make it so that purity is a little easyer...

There seems to be some confusion as to the type of tool they were talking about.

The tool in Enders makes it possible to easily view the data you need regarding whether any area is flat, too high, too low and so on.

It seems to be the general opinion, though there is no way to be certain, but the tool being referred to in the last announcement would be something of an upgrade/replacement to a shovel. An actual tool you can craft/build in game which would make it easier/less time consuming to flatten large amounts of lands. Something like a plow, ideally, maybe even pulled by live stock whenever that gets added.

who needs livestock when you have freshly joined townies to pull your plows?
of course, we DO still need the plows
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Don't forget we also still need livestock, to feed and milk our townies

And judging by the server populations we need the townies, too.

Strange as it may seem, very few want to play the role of "townie". Everyone keep believing they can be "super man".

Yeah, the general attitude of new players; "I like to explore the game myself, and build my own base, not join an existing town and get everything handed out", combined with the rightful paranoia (for lack of expansive authority managament options) of village owners, of trusting any new player they don't know irl, makes it pretty hard to find townies.

Yeah I'm definitely not joining a town without a good reputation, not that they would trust me either.

Not to complain or anything, just want to add input regarding the imbalance between players with unreachable god powers and harmless newbs who can never stand a chance at competing.

It just ruins a certain aspect of the game, the one that likely brought most people to try it. The permadeath aspect. Basically, if you reach the agricultural stage after the nerf, you are exempt from raiding, becoming a bounty hunter, or anything that isn't a peaceful farmer who hopes every day to remain un-noticed and un-raided. Because of that, they are the number one target of raiders.

Practically defensless, sitting ducks. One god char can simply walk by, take down several plank fences, destroy all of your tier 3 fields, steal all of your stuff, and ruin months worth of work in an hour. The farmer on the other hand simply cannot do anything about it. If he happens to track him, surprise, he claimed a leanto in side of a town claim with several layers of plank walls, and tons of blazers.

If the farmer even attempted to break in, the blazers will pwn him well before he could do considerable damage to a plank wall with his low humors.

What I'm trying to say, without sounding like I'm complaining, is that the aspect of the game that drew a lot of people in turned out to be a fraud. For this reason, all the people I started playing salem with have either stopped playing or quit for good. Not everybody wants to play the role of the peaceful farmer who hopelessly cowers in fear hoping somebody doesn't just swing in and ruin months worth of work without consequences.

We wanted to be bounty hunters once we reached end game... Now I'm just farming alone, planting trees, and stuff. Not as thrilling as I had hoped.

I don't mind farming, I like that part of the game. It's just that a lot find it boring, and it is boring playing by my self. Kinda takes away from the MMORPG aspect without people to play with.

Of course we'd have assholes with god chars them selves who will happily try to argue against this every chance they have, like that darmoth guy who calls everybody retarded, because clearly they don't want to loss the massive advantage they have over everybody else.

So you wanted to be bounty hunters but didn't put in the time or effort to make combat characters. Sounds like the system works fine for people who want to play it.

Sometimes a game and/or the community are just not worth the time and effort despite a few interesting mechanics and a few very generous contributors.
