Basically from what i hear is after the patch current mines will cap at 50% purity ish, why newly built mines will be able to cap at 100% purity.

The reason is current mines can be capped (dug out) too quickly for JC's liking, so they are due to expand the size of mines by x2 or x3 or some crap like this, thus meaning you will need to dig alot deeper to get to 100% purity. Old mines will be stuck with the old size limitations, thus will only be able to reach 40-50% purity ish.

I am unsure what other changes are coming, but this single change alone was enough to put my whole current salem game on the backburner, waiting to see how this patch unfolds. (As my whole base is designed and constructed around a mine, and never being able to reach 100% purity with the mine after the patch will make the whole bae, and the reason i built it were it was worthless)

I could be wrong, but this is what i heard.

So if you are happy with youre current mines never being able to go above 40-50% purity, you shouldnt be effected too much, my best guess.

In b4 JC is telling us all different versions of the new patch, none of which are the actual plans.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

*It is looking more and more like existing mines will quite simply 'work' with the new direction we are going. There may be reasons that you wish your existing mine wasn't as dug out as it is now, but aside from those smaller details you should see old-minetech conform to new-minetech with little differences. This is still subject to change if there are last minute complications with the implementation but for now existing mines look safe, and better yet, will be capable of opening fissures to the lower levels like other mines.

On patch day there will be an 'unforeseen' 'compatibility issue' and all existing mines will be wiped.
