While I have found this to be true I would much rather have the option to distroy my current mine and have it leave an untapped node benith it ready to re-build when the patch drops (thus avoiding anger from people with mines that are more about storage and space then metal). However I am not a coder and I dont know what changes JC has planned for the mines so I am just going to put my faith in his plan.

I think I read that as well, and I am honestly not sure if he does not understand, does not care, or is intentionally trolling with that.
There is a whole world of a difference between having a mine "in walking distance" or within your walls.

If you took a lot of scouting and preperation to find your perfect spot to settle, this likely includes a mine within your walls, taking that out, makes it a place where you would not have settled at all.
Pretty much every serious settlement i came across, had a mine within their walls, it's that simple.
And yes, many people use it as a freaking big vault, destroying/re-rolling the mine would hurt, but far not as much as starting all over again with everything.

I remember he said how it is not intended to remove existing mines as they "consume" the ore node when they are built, but it can't really be that hard to spawn a fresh ore node when destroying a mine.

This is actually the reason i stopped playing *again*.

Do not want to go into too much details, but i spent 20~30 hours looking for the perfect mining location, built around it dropped a bell, for a month or two later to find current mines will basically be made redundant. IF this changes, i will be back. If the mines are unsalvageable(making my whole base, location, and design useless), ill be waiting and starting again when i feel im ready :)

PS: I do not use mines as a home or mass storage, at most i burned coal in them.

if the new mines are really that much better, just think about it as a wipe... the good thing is you still have your character and skills...

Wipes are a necessity, and consequences are horrible if they are not done in the right moment, don't get me started on how missing wipes messed up the "fixes" to the old purity system...

The thing here is, that a wipe is totally obsolete, there isn't even a technical limitation to that. (Well, there should*t be.)
Wipe what is within existing mines, ok, and convert old mines to new mines, but why the hell just render them useless?!
I don't understand why anyone would decide to do that, besides trolling.

Because apparently everyone thinks they're JC, and his team, and think they know whats going to happen with mines i'll shed some REAL light on the matter from what he has told me they are still unsure what to do with the old mines so stop blabbing about something you know NOTHING about.
