The instability should still be the indicator you're looking for, the only thing they changed is what happens after the items is done changing its stats around in that particular pot/tube.

Happened to me to, thought i left some unpure bars by misstake.
Ninja nerf of iron smelting i guess. No more lime/ore - pure ore cycles :(

The only change I have noticed so far was an increase in purity in my mine.
I haven't smelted anything since yesterday so I can't say if there was a change.

smelted iron today, i see no changes, it came out as before.

i use 15 ore and 10 lime for 1.8 bars and still get the same results as i did before. how much of each are you using. i am thinking you might be using more lime then ore and its using the lime instead of the ore to determine purity.

0% purity iron comes if you burned copper in same smelter

So copper is just a purity ruiner?

:o

I personally haven't even built a copper mine, the ore i've used so far is the same old ore I always had, which has always yielded iron. Still got a bar of 0% purity instead of the usual 7%. As for using more lime than ore, that's not the case either, I used 13 ore and 12 lime for the 182% yield.

I use 16% iron ore, 13 pieces of lime and 12 pieces of ore:

1x: 3% metal bar + 11% metal bar
1x: 11% metal bar + 11% metal bar
1x: 11% metal bar

Before the update, I always received 10% purity metal bars.

I haven't tried ( haven't found a copper mine) making copper bars either.

It seems low purity dowsing rods can only find cooper mines, or at least that's what i observed last night, so copper = the iron of the poor :D

Nope, i'd say the higher purity is just rare.
