Trumpets will lower your own insanity, but other players in town do not want to hear that racquet and gain no benefit from it :).

Naturally one presumes we are opening the way to vineyards and brewcrafting as other ways to lower insanity. Creating the possibility of pubs 8). And of course, pub brawls. Oh wait. no. Affluence could also be an offset to insanity gain, btw. or a multiplier to the effects of tobacco and alcohol... and snuff. And hookahs.. and other such things.

The number of seeds obtained form harvesting a Tobacco field is dependent upon the affluence of the Tobacco Farmer harvesting it. So it does affect it a bit :)

Indeed we struggled a bit with how to work affluence into these luxury items and industries. In the end we decided that affluence will help you run a larger tobacco plantation, or a larger vineyard, and not necessary have any effect on the consumption of the materials themselves.

My combat suit doubles as an affluence suit from all the pearls so i'm really leaning towards more affluence bonuses from things :D

Also since eggs are now a fert, can we perhaps have golden eggs as a fert that is better than it's normal counterpart?

Other things you do will cause your character to calm down, regardless though, with the passage of play-time your character will slowly lose his sanity and once he has lost ALL shreds of humanity he will PERMADIE.

So am I interpreting this correctly that no matter what we do our character to lower insanity it will die eventually?

Ah no sorry, your character is constantly gaining insanity. You may do things throughout the game to combat this insanity and keep it in check. However, if you go a few hours without dealing with it in any way you will instead gain a madness level which you may only remove by smoking tobacco. So your choices are ignore it until it gets high and then smoke it away, OR do some soothing tasks every few hours of play to make sure you are keeping your insanity in check.

Trying to enter gluttony mode now consistently crashes my session.

If your goal was to extend the insanity mechanic to me the actual player, then mission accomplished.
