@ Dallane : Concerning Popham I agree with you about the "more friendly raider environment". But "big" factions didn't come to play there**. I don't know why and your point of view (and darwoth , kkk , brego , alloin , heff , arcadia , tribe , whoever i forgot) is more accurate than mine.
Without "big factions" that already know the game (raising character , raiding , witchery , ...) very well , I don't think Popham can have raiders before a long long time , and then it's too late it's depleted!
For carebears/noobs , like me , I think that expedition is pretty nice if you begin early , with enough time we can raise our character enough to try new things later (raiding / darkness / PvP / witchery...) but it requests us a lot of time , because we don't really know how to make it efficiently. For exemple my character now have around 300 biles , my T&N to 600 , and stacked at max inheritance. So I will "soon" try to go to darkness hunting big monsters I've never seen. I will probably die to it , but I don't care I will inherit everything.
But it's hard to begin on expedition server after everyone , mostly because you don't know how many time "left" you have to raise your character before the end of the server**** , so in general there's no newcomers and server pop is slowly decreasing.

** : I don't count the first week(s) when some of "big faction" made some P2W crappy play , with despicable background , and pathetic tears/withdrawal when TbC and stone wall arrived (stone wall woooot !)
**** : personnal point of view expedition server should have a fixed/known closing date : if the witches don't win in 4/6/8/10/whatever months then pilgrims have won and devs shut the server.
