I'd rather they take all the time they need to get the mapgen right, because it's one of the few things that is completely impossible to change without a wipe.

We did consider letting the present servers run and only cut off all new entry to them. Would you have preferred that?

You get nothing. It's a wipe. Patch hits, with the wipe. GLHF

Ah, But this is where we lose each other. To you, if you say things like

"Alchemy pack will be in next patch"

or

"We will only do a full wipe when it is an absolute necessity like loss of data"

People do not care to figure out if you meant what you said at the time, or if you mean what you said later in the future, or how far you have digressed from the feelings you had at the point in time in which you made the statements. You can tell me that the sky is red because you are wearing super cool red-tinted glasses. And while you may not be attempting to deceive me, you are certainly lying to me about the color of the sky. Just as you have lied about the direction and development of this game. Do not mistake this with a slander accusing you of a willful attempt at misguiding people at the moment of your words. This is just highlighting that **** you say turns out to be the opposite. Maybe because you changed your mind, or maybe because you had no clue when you said it originally, again I'm not so concerned with the WHY you are prepared to go back on your word -- only that you are.

Ok. You care more about your peepoo than about the game, and I care more about the game than your peepoo.

We are agreed.

I Ninja edited you while you typed your reply.. ^^ You Might want to re-read above.

And leaving the old server up to die is not in direct conflict with the health of the game. It honors your original word and intent in the perpetuity of the old world, while gives the game the fresh life you believe the wipe will do in the new one. The elusive win/win, something you seem hell-bent on avoiding.

seriously?

But just for the future it would be nice if you'd return to posting more about your medium term plans/thoughts instead of making turncoat-like maneuvers just because you suddenly have the idea to change stuff.

Just to have written it here and to prove that we have a sort of information asymetry here:
I just made a forum search by using the key word "map generator" and user jorb and loftar respectively. The only "official" statement from you in this forum concerning the map generator is in this very thread. Thats almost a year (or whenever you start working on it) too late.

I know that you crave for QQ and "forum drama" in your games and the forums. But this is a very cheap method to get some.

As an example to the conversation before. Multiple conversations yielded the following information:

--An Updated Map-Gen patch would require a world reset and the loss of all bases, NOT the loss of all characters.

--Updated Map-Gen was NOT a priority, certainly not one before Animal Husbandry.

Both of these turned out to be lies.

Do the devs aspire to design a game that never requires a wipe? If not - what is their goal for world length? 6 months? 2 years?
