I foresee a lot of criminals carrying around pclaim's, abusing poor schmucks, then laying down their claim to force scents on those wishing to gather the scents.

I could see this too. However, I have no sympathy if the land produces no rangers willing to go through a little adversity to gather a scent.

Whoever's TbC 'finishes' first based on the scent they have will summon the other player.

Or, the players can simply port home and confront the person who dropped the TbC directly.

I highly doubt it. Leaving a scent is just asking to die now.

Ummm using My main pk to ko people in the wild / near boston running up a murder with 50 stats or so to kill/loot them .
Then place a claim stone and build a fence with some a brazier , Anyone that want to get my scent would have to break the wall and leave scent themselves.
Then it be easy to know if i am being tracked because i will let an alt check the claim with scent.
Also raiding a entire villages taking all of there loot without alts vault and all I have to do is log in and check every 8 hours ( since i won't murder with my main pk ).
Anyway chances of a good team dying with this patch is low OFC sometime we might lose a murder alt or so but most of the time that alt would kill tons of people before it time.

What if your friends showed up at your trial? Group fight?
If the trial fail will the crime perish?

Personally I avoid all kinds of risks, because I don't want to lose characters that take so long. I suspect there's a lot of players who think like this. Even my 3rd character I don't want to put at risk.

Yes, groups of Criminal Gangs will certainly have several options to mitigate the risk. Simply a lot more hassle then they currently experience and nothing that will fully prevent a team of Rangers if the ranger team is in fact more dedicated.

Does this mean that they will stand in the world until the next server restart? As a result, we get hundreds of alts standing in Providence and blocking everything.
