As others have suggested, it's already very trivial to protect your keys, use alts in random places in the winderness if you must. Just be happy that keys can be attuned despite it probably being more fun if master keys could be used by anyone.

Now, BTT, I'd love to know:

1.) How much dmg to upkeep per time can 1 crow do?

2.) How high can upkeep go?

3.) Can crows attack fields that are not in use?

4.) Can crows attack fields that are planted and growing?

5.) Can crows attack fields that are harvestable but still growing?

6.) Can crows attack fields that are harvestable and finished growing?

7.) Is there any delay between a crow getting to a field and the fields upkeep taking damage, if so, how long?

8.) Does the tile need to be loaded for crows doing their work, or can this happen at the absence of players?

2)600%
3)No
4)yes
5)yes
6)Yes
7)Yes.... you'll have to find out how long you have to shoo him away. Its a generous amount of time.
8)tile must be loaded.

Thanks for all that info, though I dare to say 600% is much too much without anything better than wood choppings.

...inb4 people putting up alts near other peoples bases to harass them with crows. :D

Maybe a ring of crabs on a stick can be a defense against tile-loading alts :P

30 humus to plant, and ~ a thousand wood choppings to get it back down, did I say I consider this "too much"?! :D

7.) Is there any delay between a crow getting to a field and the fields upkeep taking damage, if so, how long?

I checked my Popham base one hour ago , and chased crows.
I'm login back now, see a crow , chase him right away : one field under the crow at 600%
Probability that a neighbor came close in the meantime : very low (it's Popham  )
Probability that the crow act faster than the travel from my mine-entrance (where my alt sleep) to the field : very high

That's good , my Providence's fields will be empty for a few days , as long as there are not protected ¦]

Bjber , 600% !!! Not a good time to plant tobacco !

We have positioned our 4 Scarecrows so, that the ring of range covers the whole fields.
But there are things between Scarcrows and fields... like Sheds, Drying Frames, Compost Bins, House and Walls.

Could it be, that Scarecrows need a line of sight to work proper?
