well on reequest i will copy my irc rant to the forum for discussion.

<Emina> i am mad atm, why am i not able to pay 30 silver to spawn with my friends why is this only possible with the first free spawn?? nothing indikates that this would not be possible! i dont have the rights of Englishmen yet so it doesnt make sense to close that possibility. i even thaught i would get a new menu up after pressing pay 30 silver to make my choice of wilderness spawn or to spawn with hs but im just suddenley out in a new maze of crazy ridges, with 30 silver less in my pocket, far away from my friends wasting time.
<Emina> you need to make this more clear or change it. if i had payed real money for that, you would have had one unhappy customer.

In order to spawn at your friends home stead, he needs to have a claim set as a homestead. This means he needs to buy Settling and a Writ of Homesteading.

did you read the OP at all? that isn't the issue.

Exactly. That's the problem. It's the start of the world and NOBODY has that (well, at least didn't a day or so ago). How are people supposed to form a village together other than tromp through the woods for a few hours? My understanding was that the teleport to buddy thing was there so people could get to their friends to play together.

It's an issue for any group of friends that start together. I use this as an example (because it'll never actually happen... love my guild, but they can all wuss up pretty hard  ). Say I want to get my guild to join. We all want to start off together and eventually form a town in game. Currently, the option is that we all have to stick together and near each other... at least no farther than we are willing to walk to meet back up. If someone takes a random teleport somewhere, that might mean a 3-4 hour walk to meet back up. Some people enjoy the hardcore, but there were a lot of complaints on this during the first part of closed beta, which is why it got implemented. It is just amplified at the beginning of a server when no characters have settling or a homestead claim.

uh, i was able to spawn at my friends claim, the day before yesterday. that isn't the problem either.

the problem is that the 30silver spawn doesn't allow you to enter a hearthsecret. the "call of the wild" spawn does.

Exactly, and I was shocked to learn that this was the case. It just doesn't make any sense at all.

I don't see why this surprises anyone. If anything, Haven is even harsher by not even letting you enter the world before you have decided where to spawn.

The reason why this is so is to ensure that one can only HS-spawn one time and not teleport around to people later on, or HS-spawn right into raids or whatever.

Yeah, the buff just says so plainly in its tooltip. ;)

Should probably say that at the wilderness guide, too. In this case, a bit of redundancy would be a good thing, though people not familiar with the game should probably be looking at what the icon that just popped up on their screen is. (Hopefully do this looking while they're in the safety of the Boston claim....)

I guess the point a few of us are trying to make is: When the game goes live (assuming there's character wipes, and I infer from statements that there are no plans for this, so the point is minimal) OR when a group of people decide to join together, there's no way to get these people to one location. How do I get my guild to join together at one spot if we can't use the free travel unless one person has a full claim up? Can I get everyone in a group and we all go together at once to the same random location? If so, that's a reasonable action. However, what do we do for the few guys that can't get on that night? Do they have to wait a week to start playing so we can get a claim up? (If the group people dedicated themselves to getting a claim up, it could probably be done in under 10 play hours... I've not really tried to.)

I understand the desire to try to avoid griefing and massive alt spawning, but don't go so far as to prevent those that want to play together from doing so. I'm sure there's a solution here.

Oh yes, I know. That's what the party spawn is for, if only I can get it done sometime.

Hmm, most of us walked and some others leveled up around Boston for awhile until claim was up on the chosen spot. By the time everything was said and done, all of us were ready to start building some ****.
