By all means, keep them, but why not add also passive gains over time when doing meaningful tasks in a specific role? +250 per field you harvest ? So if you harvest 10 fields in a row, you can get 2500 Stocks and Cults to level 25>27 ? Instead of making / farming / hoping for good inspirational to level up ?

You know how about like, as you chop a tree you gain F&W? like 5 point per second, can be modified with gear, as you chop the tree, you gain exp in it towards leveling up.

Why would i need to cut a tree, chop it into boards, Dry the boards, plain the boards, Then craft an inspirational, for which i can now gain some exp, you should be passively gaining XP throughout the whole process.

As you craft pie dough, cook etc, you gain Sugar and spice etc.

Just ease the burden of "inspirational only leveling system", i feel a passive gain system as well as the inspirational system together would appeal a lot more to players.

L33LEE, I don't know if you were playing HnH in the past...
There used to be a system where you were given learning points for most activities done in game. For example for cutting trees and crafting.
Well, people quickly calculated that fastest way to gather learning points was cutting trees and turning wood into buckets. Usually with the help of a bot. As a result there were whole sections of map deforested and bucketed by bots.

In the light of this, I think inspirational system is much better and much more interesting than getting skill by repeatedly performing simple actions. Usually to raise a proficiency you need a number of different inspirationals, obtained in different ways. It somewhat forces you into more varied gameplay. If increasing proficiencies was about spamming particular task over and over again then it would get boring faster. Inspirational / curiosity systems are the most innovative / fresh / fun mechanics of progression I have seen in any game

At least in my opinion.

I have never played HnH, and a friend mentioned botting when i spoke with him on this :3

It would be easy to stop botting, by for example putting cap on "passive gains" which after level 50(5000) can only contribute upto a max of 5000 points in any prof, levels beyond this will need to add inspirational items to level up.

Its just an extra incentive/keeping power imo for new players, who will have a magnitude of ways to level stuff, and not just from pure studying endlessly the same inspirational items for the first 50h of game play, they could actually do stuff like building a base, why passively leveling some profs.

Just a taught, i never said totally remove the current system, just add another layer of possible way of leveling, and easy way to detour botters is simple add a cap on passively gained xp.

In any game you will have botters, if its collecting hay, fishing etc etc, they will still be here, and giving them a few minor levels will do nothing on a grand scale, were as the passive gains for a new real player will be very meaningful.

Explain to me this bucket grinding, and how/why anyone would create a bot to get 50 levels of profs in salem ?, This is salem, not HnH.

What would 50 levels actually achieve? Please Do give an explanation.

You know, "add a meaningful contribution" as set out in the rules.

A character with 50 levels in everything is still a pittyfull character here, you could not even unlock all the skills.

If you could level too, 200, 300, 400 with pure passive gains then botting would happen, but not for like 40-50 low end profs.

Then again, none of you here who replied play salem, so why would you contribute to salems success ? Go back to HnH ?

Pardon me, what?

Regardless of botting, it would monotonize early game play, because of the 'fastest way' mentioned in an earlier post.

Not everyone takes the most "efficient mind numbing route to endgame content", some people like to actually play/build and have fun you know ?

And running around making / studying 5000 inspirational items @ the start of the game, to get skills to even build a basic base is NOT FUN, were as actually BUILDING YOUR BASE from lowend > mid end > high end > Gain skills you need to advance at the same time > FUN !

Go back to your efficient job like Grind in which ever game you play. I would like to have fun if i start a new character, as im sure new players would like also.

It really doesn't improve the game at all. While you are building your base someone else is botting characters and will be far ahead of you. Its not a good mechanic here.
