I believe the plan is to be out before release. I would imagine that they want to get town defenses up and running before making it easier to get to surrounding locations to raid them. However, they'll probably come along with the rest of the livestock.
Pack horse would be nice, or a horse and cart for hauling back logs, boulders, or such faster than one can do with the current sled.
