Water and Civilisation
Perhaps the essential ingredient to any viable civilisation is access to water. Nearly all the great civilisations the world grew up around water, which provided the key not only to supplying freshwater, but also to agriculture, trade, transport and defence. Such civilisations as the Roman Empire, Egyptian Civilisation, the Venetian Empire and the Omayyad Dynasty were all founded on their access to water, which provided their population with the means to both survive and expand.

I would like to suggest that you no longer should be able to "fast travel" when carrying a bucket or similar full of water (Or other liquid). (This means you can stock up on water from Boston)

This would make you think a bit more before placing your homestead and make wells more usefull when implemented in the future.

I am simply looking at water as a resource. If the developers think water should play a part in where you decide to settle then i would strongly advocate that it should be impossible to travel with water in your inventory. If water should not play a huge part in where people should settle, then by all means keep the current system.

Thoughts?

You already can empty a bucket.

Never, as far as I know. But this would make them useful, hehe.

Would also be completely and utterly annoying. Then if we find a mine, it has to have a well as well nearby, otherwise we'll have to walk a marathon each time we want some water? No.

"The Woo-Woo-Wand is used during Prospecting to locate potential mine or well locations."

I guess at some point there will be wells.

Yeah but this is how it works in real life as well, you have to take access to water into account when settling. :)

Being able to fill 25 buckets in Boston removes the need for water. Makes rivers annoying rather than vital (Unless you are foraging)

If you could collect boards in Boston for free, would you oppose the BAN on this as well.. Since you would have to chop down a tree and carry it back to your settlement putting in some effort? :)

He has a point. Would make trading high purity water when that mechanic is introduced impossible though.
