Remove time-pressure in Gluttony

Postby ImpalerWrG » Mon Dec 24, 2012 1:17 pm

People have made all kinds of complaints about Gluttony being confusing or imbalance or what not but I want to make a very specific one, the current implementation is UN FUN because it has so much time pressure when in Gluttony. Your trying to click the right foods while the acculturated humor bars are shrinking and its got huge potential for you to get veerrrrrry close and then run out of food meaning the whole thing is a waste. This aspect needs to be changed, I would recommend the follow simple changes.

*Humor bars do not decline during Gluttony and they are retained when going in and out of gluttony mode.
*Invariance penalty acts to subtract from all humor (food that would add 5/4/2/1 with Invariance of 2 only gives 3/2/0/0)
*An additional 'Stuffed' penalty also subtracts (cumulative with Invariance) but it rises with each item eaten in proportion to the items current eating time.
*Interface shows the modified humor gain of an item you might want to eat after Invariance, Stuffed or any other modifiers are applied.

This would basically give us the same overall pattern of diversity being better, small 'fast-foods' being better and a quasi cap as your unable to raise stats beyond a certain point given a certain level and diversity of foods. But their is no longer the frantic clicking or the chance for massive food waste because you couldn't judge how fast the crazy set of bars are moving. This will also reduce overall confusion with the system because people will have time to learn how it works and can eat strategically just as we often strategically study.

P.S. Bring back the Tables from H&H (I tire of eating from a crate) along with the Symbel system but with a wider set of effects, items could offset Invariance and Stuffed penalties (flat reductions, percentile reductions, slower growth etc etc) as well as give multipliers on each Humor separately so you could make specific 'place settings' for different eating goals.

Agreed. And as long as they're rebalancing, variety should be emphasized a lot more. As it is there's too much spamming of good foods like cabbage cakes or pumpkin pies, and the bad foods like fish are completely useless.

under the current system it seems to me that someone who writes a script for gluttoney would have an unsurmountable advantage in leveling humours. since these stats have such a big impact in combat, i agree it should be changed.

iam aslo a little disapointed in the values associated with most foods really seems like the numbers need work.

personnally i'd like to see more complicated recipees (requires more variety items) than more simple recipees.

I doubt a script would give much more advantage here than a well, thought out plan.

I'd rather not get off track. While I don't necessarily disagree with other complaints, though I haven't played enough to judge balance issues. But I know what I hate, and I hate time pressure in what should be a casual and enjoyable process. Studying is done right, no time pressure, very enjoyable, all it needs is something that can in-game replace the wiki's Curio spreadsheet so I don't have to tab out constantly.

What you are complaining about really isn't a problem at all.
