though it would have to be something cheap so new players could also sell their stuff, maybe with more skills you could build more durable and bigger stalls

old idea:
- Any player can enter in "merchant mode" in Boston: character would work like a personal stall, even when you logout
- It would cost nothing to enter merchant mode, so even new players could sell stuff like hay, inspirationals...
- Crafting services could be sold in merchant mode too, merchant would set the price and provide materials or let the costumer provide the materials, which would influence the price
- Merchant mode would turn you into a kind of ghost to avoid griefing, it would only collide with other merchants, so merchants wouldn't overlap
- character could shout from time to time an announcement, or shop title... or do like some MMOs that shows the text above the shop all the time

setup details:
- When you click merchant mode a setup window comes up, where you can choose the products(or crafting service) and the prices, and then click OK to start
- It would remember your setup next time so you could edit or make small changes to the prices

questions:
1. How would the economy behave?
2. Should maximum item prices be regulated to avoid "vaults" like they do with stalls?

sounds retarded, why buy a stall when you can make another account and go into "merchant mode" forever

Well, in most cases it would indeed make players create secondary accounts / characters and keep them online all the time. Which would contribute to spam in Boston.

The only thing that is retarded is bashing peoples ideas.

Merchant mode is an interesting idea, and it could have upkeep draining silver from your inventory. Maybe merchant mode should only have 1 slot and 1 merchant per account

it's an "alternative" to player's stalls, as the title says

yeah, that's a better way, avoids multiple characters... to be honest almost anything would be better than the current system where it's a privilege to be able to sell stuff in a safe way... any chinese MMO already comes with a way to new players sell their stuff safely and easily... it makes the game economy work... we could make money in other ways than hunting

Why shouldn't the elite be able to use glorious stalls? You can sell stuff just as easy with forums and spam chat. Stalls go down all the time from people quitting or getting tired of keeping upkeep on them. There was one of the old ones that was up the other day.

iamah, I don't know if you are aware, but Darwoth is diehard enemy of any alternatives to current stall system. He believes that current stalls are a reward for pro player who spend a lot of time in the game (even if they don't put anything meaningful for sale), and anyone who doesn't have a stall now is simply a crybaby and a loser, and as such, does not deserve to have a stall.

As easy? Have you been using all methods for trading? They are not "as easy". Through stalls you can sell items at prices 2x higher than those people post on their threads.
And you don't have to do anything. No PMing, kinning, risking scams etc.
