Potable Chestnuts

You could allow chestnuts to be potable. When they sprouted they could be transfered to a soiled ground (a hole in the ground with some humus, or just planted in a flat area, depending on what's hard/easy to implement in the engine). The sprout would then convert to a tree after some number of days.

Tree planting is already in the works, although I'm afraid it is going to be much more complex than your simple suggestion.

More complex is fine, although having planted trees in just this fashion in real life, I'm not sure why it need be, but...

Mostly I just try to keep suggestions scoped to what might be reasonably easy to implement 8).

Not to get picky, but "potable" means able to be cooked and eaten. You're looking for "plantable."

No idea what the devs are planning on this, but it wasn't much more complex than what you describe in Haven & Hearth. You planted your seeds. Set them on an herbalist (drying) table, waited a few hours, and then checked back. Either the trees sprouted or not. If they did, you planted the sapling. If not, you started over.

True, sorry, was just reading the wiki prior to posting and plugged in the wrong word. Or rather since potable I believe only means drinkable, I was sort of adopting what I thought was the implied usage of "being able to be grown in a pot" ;). I avoided the word "plantable" because I didn't want to spiral a simple idea into a more general/complex question of planting trees.

Also can do splicing/grafting and cuttings for planting certain kinds of trees and bushes. *shrugs*

Loftar told me in PM that they're hoping to work on tree planting very soon
