leaderboards

would be neat to implement a leaderboard linked to your account that kept track of how many kills you are responsible for and deaths you have taken on a particular account. could probably put something similar in for the carebears tallying how many metal bars they have made or fields harvested etc.

this could then be integrated into the message board user profiles etc.

to keep folks from padding their score via alt killing make it so that there is a minimum humors requirement to be counted in the score.

Sounds contrary to this philosophy on PVP actions.

I don't necessarily think it's against the design philosophy, but nor do I see it as supported from that particular argument. I do know that jorb prefers quasi realism and society simulators, which "leader" boards would be completely against. Furthermore simply basing it off kill count would naturally lead to noob slaughtering and alt abuse if someone really wanted to be up there.

I think the bounty system that's been multiply suggested would better serve here. Let multiple people add silver into the bounty on a particular character and let that score rate how evil the society truly feels you are.

leaderboards are easy to implement and promote competition between the 20 - 30% of a given playerbase that is competitive, competition is a good thing and greatly extends that segments interest in a game.

Not so great when you're encouraging the 20% competitive to slaughter the 80% non-competitive.

There are better ways to do what you're suggesting without the drawbacks.

Sniping and comment wars is best kept for CoaH or HoB. At best it's horrendously off topic, play nice in this forum please and thanks

Consider this an informal warning

thats the type of argument i have heard for over a decade but it rarely ever plays out that way, most times the competitive gun for each other to reach and maintain their status at the top. killing random newbs does little to increase your own standing and nothing to lower that of the enemy.

User warned: discuss moderation issues in the appropriate locations (PM or in the rules thread) or use the report button.

Mistakes do occur. If you PM the mod that made the move, they might realize the mistake and fix it.

Apologies about that.

Agreed, if the boards are properly incentivized. Giving a kill score based on the proficiencies of the character killed, or their humours, would encourage killing but not benefit noob slaughtering overmuch.

I'd rather that notoriety was based organically on what happens in game and on the forums, rather than being able to look up exactly who the biggest murderer was.

I think that the sort of complete information that this would give people is not nearly as fun as trying to figure out who is more fearsome based on limited information, and there are some groups who would no doubt appreciate being able to kill people somewhat secretly and anonymously :)

In short, I think this is a dull idea that (a) isn't needed in a game like this and (b) would be a drama killer.

so spend 5 seconds adding an anonymous toggle.
