noob protecting

Just thinking about some feature that can let new player have more time to learn the game mechanism, get some help for it, understand it, etc.

noob protecting buff

  • All new character got the "protecting" buff
    • Will expired after 30 days, ingame or real time.
  • will not permanent death due to specific behavior like:
    1. KO'd at Blood Moon.
    2. Disease.
    3. Killing blow, both player and darkness creature.
    4. Madness
    5. TbC, been stocked, Mr. Puggles or have crime debuff still can let you die permanently, oh and whale of course.
  • Since you will not die permanently with "protecting" buff, there should have some punishment instead, like:
    1. Lose humor, lose 50% of your max humor points
    2. Lose proficiencies, lose 50% of your max proficiencies level

And most importantly, limited humor.

  • Limited humor point when you have "protecting" buff, maybe like 200 biles max, you can't go further unless you "not the noob anymore".
    • As a new player, its hard to make a high bile character, but for experienced player, they can make a 400~600 bile alt easily, this can also slow down the alt creation.

Yeah, probably not a good idea

sorry but no, dont made a game even more carebears, such mechanic would be abused af lol

The whole idea is not in the spirit of Salem,
I know things are partly harsh for a new player, but the things needed would be a better and slightly bigger tutorial, and pointing at the wiki and forums,
anything else you need to get from there by yourself,
and if you don't, this game might not be for you,
and if you die young, good thing, you have not lost much.

Protecting new players any more would just give them a false first impression of the game.

Also, it would be very, very hard to implement any kind of newbie protection that could not be exploited in some way.

Interesting but the implications would be difficult to manage with people making alts. There are enough protections, I think, to cater to players early on in most situations. In the event the main town claim didn't exist and the server was much smaller, I would be more pro-this stuff.

also nope if u want non permadeath go play WoW

if u want basebuilding play Sunset Rangers, Tree of Life or any other Crap

if u want to be revived after dying go play CS:GO

this is pure permadeath and thats why people love it.


the ONLY thing id love changed is the Hypothermia (wich is currently bugged anyway with requiring +40 in providence and +80 at home) so it only requires 15-20 each Coldsnap not on mountain

and the high amount of madness game while playing more tthen 1-2h (like me 10+)

I would say the biggest fix the game needs is the 95% death rate for Alts that commit crime. I think concords crime system was better, in regards to stocks.
