Just like stockpiles at their time, this proved to be a common problem, can't take poop from animals because this fence hitbox won't allow it.

+1 just make the hitbox the size of the actual wall since animals cant stand on the tile next to them making them 3 wide instead of 5 wide

I believe the issue here is that baby animals have smaller hitbox than a player. Since poop is spawned in the center of the animal hitbox AND players need to move center of their hitbox to the item they want to pick there must exist a dead zone near the stalls where a baby animal can reach but a player can not. Reducing the stalls hitbox will not solve the issue but barely will move it by a few pixels.
Animals tend to stop near barn stalls because that's how their AI works. When they hit an obstacle they either stop or move another direction. but since vectors of their movement end usually outside pen area which is quite small, they tend to hit walls quite often. The final result is most animals (young and mature) stop at walls (or other obstacles), exactly in the area where their poop would land outside player's reach.

What can be done to solve the problem is making animals "bounce" a bit from obstacles, so if they hit an obstacle they try to move in a random direction by some half tile. This has to be limited to first obstacle hit or else we will have pingpong pigs. I believe most of this is already implemented, but the bounce movement is just too long and too often leads to hitting another obstacle.

When mature animal drops manure near the fence, walking orthogonal to stalls will allow to pick the item.

And +1 for reducing stalls hitbox, not because that would (not) solve the problem with manure, but because it is ugly now.

The stall hitboxs are huge for what they should be. +1

Removing the fences and giving us the ability to build walls inside would be better (stick fencing would look good in there) But if we can't have that then better stall hitbox's would be wounderful.

the barn fences have been one the biggest problems since the start of animals way back on popham, for me what usually happens is i will get a pile of dead **** on a handful of tiles with overlapping hitboxes creating a massive pain in the ass to try and get the animals out of the pile.

i agree with lusewing, remove the inner barn walls entirely and let us just build fences inside.

additionally a dead animal having a hitbox that can be walked through like a chopped down log would help a good deal.

Honistly, If JC and Marp need a little more tears, then just think of the fun that would happen if all the barns suddenly update to not have fences... all those carefully sectioned animals suddenly free to roam inside

Realistically he said he can't make an instance of one thing turn into an instance of another thing and keep its contents the same. If he force-updates current barns into a different kind of barn not just the fences vanish, but likely the animals as well. Seeing as he added salvaging to the game, he should just put a 90% recovery rate on barn salvaging for a week, tell us to gtfo our animals in that week and build "Barn v 2.0" while removing Barn v 1.0 from the craft list entirely, then update all barns wether or not they have anything inside.

you cant hold that much in ur inv it all would vanish within 2 trips so he doesnt need to increase salvage for the barn
