Temperature mechanic is dumb and one of the worst updates to the game in my opinion.
It brings nothing to the game except the tears of new players (making them ragequit).
No one wants to start a game, be excited and then just freeze because they didnt bothered to read a tooltip.
And yes, i know, people should read, this is Salem an unforgiving place... But new players should atleast be abit more guided on the temperature mechanic because the only thing that happens is them leaving the game and Salem losin on possible customers.

The temperature hurts newbs who don't yet have clothes for all slots. It serves no purpose but to make the game harder for people to get into.

Another dumb mechanic (since we r on topic) was the crows. Another useless addition that doesn't add game value..

Give us cows/pigs/sheep/horses. Things that actually add to the game.

For me that mechanic makes much sense in the game.
I mean, we have coldsnaps and in coldsnaps it is cold and should have an effect to the toons.

For new player the tutorial should be the point who makes this mechanic clear, maybe with a short sidequest in the tutorial about it.
And people who ragequit in reason of the cold, they also ragequit, when Heff steal their things or kuku kills them next to Providence or they die in bloodmoon.

Salem is rough... inworld and with its playerbase.
Why new people should get the impression that the game is such a nice Farmville?
They will be disappointed earlier or later.

Well enough for the people who read

I think that the temperature should be colder the farther from Providence you are like the darkness. You will still feel its affects during cold snap in town but not as bad as before. There are too many retards who don't read announcements then get ass mad because they were too stupid to read then quit.

First of all, a mechanic should have meaning.
Atm, the meaning of temperature is to ***** up newbs who are spawned in coldsnap. Aaaaaand pretty much that.
Exploring mountain peaks is harder but only because you gotta sip that meat juice.
Oh wow, you have enough thermal rating you wont feel cold at all.
Ah, damn you are 1 thermal short? lets make you an ice block.
What, making a fireplace wont keep me hot enough? I have to actually own a house to get warm? Tough luck then.
Temperature has no sense whatsoever since it does not include all the benefits or disadvantages of hot or cold weather.
Lets implement more half thought mechanics and just leave them be before we make stuff up along the way. Thats surelly going to atract more people to the game.
The difference between seasons like fruit trees blooming, bear spawning or not spawning, beaver droping more lard , different base plenty on fields and whales migrating were really good design choices. I wish there was more of those.
But untill you make temperature make any ***** sense i call it a **** mechanic.
Yes, JC is maybe working on something to tie it all together, but, unless he wants us making popsicles which would require certain temperature i have nothing but critique.
