My thoughts exactly.

How would you prevent people from just making another account and playing though?

It would most likely be a registered event. Register on one character. Once that character dies, you cannot join in with a new character (closed after the expedition starts).

Simply by IP

Restricting characters by IP does not work.

Could just make characters permadie and not be able to inherit anything off them. And then make it a lot easier to cause conflict, perhaps something involving the "persisting characters" they mentioned.

Or just make it a pre-registration so that after the deadline no new players can join the expedition

Which are all:

- easily circumvented.
- easily overpowered, taking unrelated users down along with the intended targets.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

This has been discussed endlessly. IP spoofers, and the more stuff devs implement the more the try-hards will try to overcome them for an advantage. The idea is to find a mechanic that doesn't require JC to hire a squad of cybercrime badasses to keep everything going smooth.

Is it not possible to close registration on an expedition after x time? Like you won't be able to enter the world? After the registration ends
