There's a thread out there somewhere that explains John's reasoning in not making 'sift all' a thing. Something to do with variety and wanting people willing to sit there and do it for a long time to get benefits that other, less patient people, couldn't have. So, indeed if you are using autosift or any other macro, you must have the window maximized and check every now and then to see if someone is talking to you or standing next to you or whatever.

So, (if it were not for Kandarim,) who would pay my doctors bill if I actually did sift for hours each day, for days, because let's say I find virtual gold flakes and gems appealing?
Carpal tunnel syndrom is quite serious, and so is a broken high end mouse because of the required 1800 to 3600 clicks per hour!
You know why McDonalds put a "caution hot" on their coffee cups, right? You are american, and that is how it works in your country.
Now you could do the same, but what about people that have encountered physical harm or property damage already because of your dangerous game?

That's because some idiot stuck the coffee between her legs while she was driving instead of in the cup holder and burned the hell out of her thighs when she went to press on the brakes and it inevitably spilled all over her.
